DON’T CROSS THE LADY SPARTANS XC SQUAD

BOARDMAN, OH- In his first year at the helm, Rick Sypert has led his Boardman Girls Cross-Country team to the “Trifecta” of XC Championships: The Suburban League, County, and AAC.

Not bad for a rookie.

Except that Sypert is anything but a newbie, his track coaching experience has made him a prime candidate to help these young student-athletes maintain and excel their goals and ambitions throughout the year.

We caught up not only with Coach Sypert, but the entire team of champions at Boardman for a combination of Spartan Coach’s Corner, and Player Profile on YSN.

RUN FOR FUN; EP’S CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM KEEPS ROLLING

EAST PALESTINE, OH- It’s not Friday Night Lights, it’s not high-octane violent spikes of a volleyball, in cross-country, it’s about grace, finesse, endurance, and breaking down walls that keep you from a finish line.

As in life, this sport is about You versus You.  While all student-athletes deserve coverage, many times it’s the (quite literally) off the beaten path sports that don’t have a light shined upon them.  As you know with YSN, we try our best to provide coverage for as many of our school’s sports as we can.  Today we shine a light onto the seniors of East Palestin’s “XC” squad.

The YSN Voice of East Palestine, Tim Figley caught up with the East Palestine Cross-Country Team about their season, challenges, and obstacles they’ve faced in 2019.
