ZOIE 101

SALEM OH- The last two seasons for Salem girls basketball has been some kind of ride.  Last season they made it all the way to the regional finals, just one step away from a trip to Dayton.  Now a year later even though they lost some important seniors, they might look even better.  They haven’t missed a beat, and they have their sights set on taking that next step this year.  The seniors on this roster have pushed the Quakers to continue to meet their standard.

Zoie Reid came into the year off a volleyball season where she had to be a major source of leadership. Through all the adversity that team went through, you never saw Zoie lose her attitude or energy.  She has taken that right into basketball. The biggest leadership quality that she brings to the team is that ability of hers to keep a positive mindset through adversity.  You might look at Salem’s near perfect record and think what kind of adversity could they have possibly went through? But you’ll come to learn that even in wins, there are moments of uncertainty that could tear a team down. Not while Zoie is on watch though, that energy that is such a huge part of the sport of volleyball has leaked right into the basketball team.  Zoie makes it almost impossible not believe in yourself when you’re on her team. Who wouldn’t want a teammate like that? When it comes to the intangibles that make Salem such a dominant program, Reid is the X factor.  You can’t overlook the value she brings to her teammates, and the trust they have in her on and off the floor.

Reid was able to take the time to have a conversation with YSN’s own Anthony Hartwig to talk about her senior season.  They discuss the energy she brings to her teammates, what these last two seasons on the team have been like, and so much more.
