Geneva, OH- In a game marked by offensive fireworks, the Edgewood Warriors found themselves on the wrong end of an 18-6 scoreline despite outhitting Geneva in a baseball showdown on Tuesday.

The Warriors came out swinging, tallying eight hits compared to Geneva’s seven, but ultimately fell short in their quest for victory. Leading the charge for Edgewood was Tony Hall, who delivered an impressive performance with three hits in three at-bats, showcasing his offensive prowess throughout the game.
Geneva wasted no time in seizing control of the game, surging ahead in the bottom of the first inning with a barrage of runs. Shea Arkenburg ignited the scoring frenzy with a walk, paving the way for a series of hits and scoring opportunities that saw Curtis Maier double home two runs, followed by Austin Murphy and Hewitt Wilt each driving in additional runs with timely hits.
The onslaught continued in the second inning as Geneva capitalized on Edgewood’s defensive lapses, extending their lead with key hits and clutch performances at the plate. Despite Edgewood’s efforts to mount a comeback, Geneva’s relentless offensive assault proved too much to handle, as they continued to pile on the runs throughout the game.
On the pitching front, Shea Arkenburg earned the win for Geneva, showcasing his prowess on the mound by limiting Edgewood’s offense to just two hits and four runs over 2 1/3 innings, while striking out four batters and issuing only two walks.
For Edgewood, Caleb Johnson took over for Sean Lincoln in relief, but struggled to contain Geneva’s potent lineup, allowing multiple runs to cross the plate during their respective outings.
Despite the loss, Zane Naylor emerged as a bright spot for Edgewood, driving in three runs to lead the team offensively. Gino Measel also made significant contributions with two hits in three at-bats, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Geneva’s offensive onslaught.
For Geneva, Meyer and Keene Arkenberg stood out with three runs batted in each, providing crucial run support to complement their team’s strong pitching and offensive performance.
Looking ahead, Edgewood will aim to bounce back from their defeat as they prepare to face Cardinal at home on Thursday, hoping to regain their winning form. Meanwhile, Geneva will hit the road to take on Champion in their next matchup, eager to build on their impressive victory and continue their pursuit of success on the diamond.
