BEARS LOCK IN WINNING SEASON

HANOVERTON, OH- Leetonia’s Marco Ferry was all over the field tonight as he broke the record for most rushing yards in a single season in Leetonia history with 1,841 yards as the old record was 1,776 yards. During the first quarter, Marco Ferry put the Bears up early with a 13-yard touchdown to put the Bears up 7-0.  The next drive the Eagles would drive the ball all the way down to Leetonia’s 1-yard line. As the Eagles tried to get into the endzone, Leetonia would force a fumble and recover it to end the first quarter with the lead of 7-0.

In the second quarter, United’s Tyler Lippiatt threw a touchdown pass to Nate Miller to bring the score to 7-6. United would put their next drive together with another touchdown to take the lead to 13-14. Later on in the 2nd, Leetonia’s Marco Ferry would run through the Eagles defense and score a long 56-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 13-14. As the quarter dwindled down Leetonia’s Gavin Steiskal would kick a 30-yard field goal to end the half 16-14.

To start the second half no teams would put up any points as it was a defensive showdown.  As the 4th quarter came around Jadeon Finley would intercept Lippiatt’s pass in the endzone and take it out to Leetonia’s 8-yard line. After the interception, Leetonia’s Marco Ferry would take the ball 92-yards to take the lead to 23-14. The Bears defense will stop the Eagles from scoring in the second half with three RedZone stops and two turnovers on downs. The Bears would win 23-14.

Leetonia (6-3) will head to Southern Local as they look for a playoff spot. For United (3-6) they will head to Lisbon.
