AUSTINTOWN AVOIDS ELIMINATION

WHITESTOWN IN- Austintown had their backs against the wall again on Tuesday in the Little League Regional tournament.  They powered through the pressure and were victorious against Michigan 5-1 to keep moving on.

Bella Baumgart walked, which helped Austintown All-Stars 12U tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

In the bottom of the third, Austintown broke up the tie when Seneca Coates singled, scoring two runs. Then a ground out by Baumgart followed to extend the lead to 5-1.

Mila Hamley started in the circle for Austintown. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and one run over six innings, striking out nine and walking none.

Leadoff hitter Coates led Austintown with two hits in three at bats. Amadi Beardsly paced the lineup with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Coates was able to steal three bases.

Austintown stays alive in the bracket and will move on to play in another elimination game on Wednesday. They will play the loser of Indiana vs Illinois at 1:00 on ESPN+.
