BULLDOGS OFF THE LEASH
STRUTHERS OH- Poland beat Northeast 8 rival Struthers on Monday by a score of 10-0 in an abbreviated 6 inning game. Poland improves to 6-8 on the season and 5-2 in NE8 conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped-out to an early lead scoring 2 runs in first and didn’t look back afterwards. Poland pounded 16 hits with senior Shortstop Mary Brant collecting 3 hits and 4 RBIs including a 2 run home run in the top of the sixth. Junior pitcher Olivia Horn had 3 hits too, while Elliana Thompson, Leanne Williams, Kylie Hudran and Cassie Blanch each had 2 hits with Blanch doubling earning 2 RBIs. Thompson doubled and tripled collecting 2 RBIs.
Lanie Toutin had two hits leading Struthers on offense, and Maddie Minno took the loss for Struthers on the mound.
Olivia Horn picked up her 6th win of the season in the circle striking out 11 and scattering 5 hits. The NE8 rivals resume play tomorrow in Poland.
