CARDINALS RUN OUT OF STEAM

MACEDONIA OH- Canfield knew coming to Wednesday’s battle with Wooster Triway that it wasn’t going to be easy. Triway is one of the top ranked teams in the state. After falling behind early, Canfield kept the Titans quiet, and were able to put some traffic on the base paths.  But they couldn’t come back and fell 7-1.

Triway opened up scoring in the second inning, when Clowie Flinner singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Carter Wachtel took the win for Triway. The pitcher allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Malena Toth took the loss for Canfield. The hurler allowed nine hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out three.

The Titans tallied 11 hits on the day. Flinner, Emily Yacapraro, and Hanna Massaro each collected multiple hits. Flinner led Triway with three hits in three at bats.

Madison Angelo went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Canfield in hits. Marina Koenig smacked a home run for the Cardinals for their only RBI of the day.
