IRISH ARE BACK IN THE REGIONAL FINALS

RAVENNA OH- One year ago, Ursuline matched their way to a regional championship game and fell just short, now a season later they have another opportunity to punch a ticket to Akron. They got there with a 6-2 win over West Salem Northwestern.

Ursuline pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the inning Bednar doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and Fedor homered on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Paige Ogden led the the Irish to victory on the rubber. The righthander surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking one.

Olivia Amstutz took the loss for Northwestern. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out three.

Ursuline hit two home runs on the day. Mia Opalick had a homer in the seventh inning. Fedor put one out in the second inning.

The Irish tallied 11 hits. Katie Koulianos, Opalick, Fedor, and Madelyn Miklandric all collected multiple hits. Miklandric, Fedor, Opalick, and Koulianos each collected two hits to lead.

Daylie Rickard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Northwestern in hits. Northwestern didn’t commit a single error in the field. Avery Garver had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

Ursuline advances to their second straight regional championship. This time around they’ll be matched up with Tuslaw. First pitch from Ravenna is set for 4:00.
