RED BIRDS SHOW FIGHT AND STAY ALIVE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

BOARDMAN OH- With everything on the line Monday night Canfield’s 11u baseball team showed serious fight against Boardman. Canfield came in to the championship needing a pair of wins to hold a banner, while Boardman needed just one.  Canfield didn’t mind the odds however as they scrapped their way to a 3-0 shutout win to force an if necessary winner take all matchup between the two teams.

Jake Kibby dazzled on the mound for Canfield. In 5 and 1/3 innings Kibby gave up no runs and struck out seven Boardman batters.

Because of Kibby’s great pitching, Canfield didn’t need much offense to win. What they got was a spark from Camden Rodgers in the second inning with a RBI single.

Canfield isn’t done yet, there is still work to be done. Canfield and Boardman will meet again Tuesday night to decide the 11u championship. The game is set for 6:00 on field L2 at the Boardman Fields of Dreams.
