FALCONS FLY BY URSULINE IN WALKOFF FASHION

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Tuesday’s game was a nail-biter, but Austintown-Fitch snatched a walk-off 7-6 win over Ursuline in the bottom of the seventh when Carson Fuller grounded out to send a runner home from third.

Carter Owens was on fire, bagging three hits throughout the game, including key singles that kept the scoreboard ticking for Austintown-Fitch.

The action started early with Owens sparking a scoring play in the first inning, complemented by a miscue from Ursuline that brought in another run. Ursuline fought back, tying it up in the fourth thanks to AJ Snyder’s fielder’s choice.

The tug-of-war continued with Austintown-Fitch nudging ahead after CJ Frasco coerced a fielder’s choice in the fourth, followed by Nate Mcgahagan’s sacrifice fly. But Ursuline wouldn’t stay down, leveling the score and then briefly taking a 6-5 lead in the seventh after capitalizing on an error.

In a dramatic final inning, Owens’ bat and Fuller’s groundout flipped the script, giving Austintown-Fitch the walk-off win.

Owens also took home the win on the mound with a three-inning stint, allowing just one earned run. Thomas Kosovan shouldered the loss for Ursuline in his brief appearance.

Nik Kyprianou opened for Austintown-Fitch with a solid effort, and on the opposing side, CJ Frasco put in a hefty shift despite giving up some runs.

Both teams showed their prowess in defense, turning two double plays each, ensuring the game remained tight till the last play.

AJ Snyder stood out for Ursuline, driving in two crucial runs and proving essential in their lineup.

As Austintown-Fitch preps to host Kennedy, Ursuline will travel to Youngstown East.
