BOARDMAN BUSTS OUT IN EXTRAS

MARLINGTON, OH- Grayson Eicher was on fire with three hits as Boardman took down Marlington 6-1 on their turf at Marlington. Eicher kicked things off with singles in the first and fifth innings, then sealed the deal with a clutch two-RBI single in the ninth.

The game was quiet until Boardman’s Landon Whippo laced a double to bring in a run in the second. Marlington answered in the fifth, tying it up with a Drew Simmons double.

But Boardman wasn’t done yet. They exploded in the ninth, cranking out five runs to clinch the game. Tyler Kirlik was stellar on the mound, handing out zeros in all but one inning over eight strong, striking out seven along the way to snag the win. Isaiah Andrews shouldered the loss for Marlington after a tough outing where he allowed one run over more than six innings.

Boardman’s bats were buzzing all game, racking up 16 hits. Whippo wasn’t just a one-hit wonder; he drove in three runs, going 3-for-5. Kirlik, Charlie Young, and Adam Konnerth each had multiple hits, contributing to the team’s hefty hit count. Defensively, Boardman was flawless, with Young leading with eight plays.

For Marlington, Simmons brought in their only run, while Parker Woods added a couple of hits. Wyatt Dillon nabbed two bags, but the Diamond Dukes just couldn’t spark enough offense to keep up.

Next up, Boardman heads to Lakeview on Thursday, looking to keep the momentum rolling.
