IRISH OVERCOME SLOW START TO ADVANCE

BOARDMAN OH- In a thrilling sectional semifinal matchup on Tuesday, Ursuline overcame an early deficit to defeat Girard and secure a spot in the sectional finals. After trailing 2-1 through four innings, Ursuline’s offense exploded, scoring 11 runs in the next two innings to seal the victory.

Ursuline’s bats came alive when they needed them most, led by standout performances from Lilly Ditz and Savannah Patrone. Ditz went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs, while Patrone contributed with a 2-for-4 performance, driving in two runs and scoring once. Katie Koulianos also made her presence felt, adding two RBIs and a run scored to the offensive onslaught. Gia Schiavone and Arri Wendt each chipped in with key hits to fuel Ursuline’s rally.

In the circle, Ditz delivered a dominant performance, pitching six innings of stellar softball. She allowed just three hits and no earned runs while striking out four Girard batters.

Despite the loss, Girard put up a fight, with Brooklyn Broll, Destiny Flaherty, and Molly Durkin each recording hits for the Indians.
