JONES, GIRARD WALK IT OFF AGAINST HUBBARD

GIRARD, OH- What a week for walk-off wins.  You can now add Hannah Jones to the list of hometown heroes.  The Girard Indians seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off fielder’s choice at the end of the game to topple Hubbard. The game was tied at two with Girard batting in the bottom of the ninth when Gillian Ryser induced Hannah Jones to hit into a fielder’s choice, but the deciding run scored.

The pitching was at a premium both sides. Girard pitchers struck out 12, while undefined sat down 13.  While Hubbard got things moving in the second inning. Kellsie Leshnak grounded out, scoring one run.  Hubbard continued later and knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning, when Leshnak singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Angela Spisak was in the circle for Girard. She surrendered two runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one.  Kaitlyn Culver went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Indians in hits.

Hubbard tallied six hits. Jackie Adler and Hannah Kist all collected multiple hits for Hubbard.
