LADY RAIDERS BOOK FIRST WIN ON THE BEACH

MYRTLE BEACH, SC-  The South Range Raiders took the lead late and defeated Horseheads Blue Raiders 10-8 on Monday. South Range was down 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jamie Feren doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs, and earning the “Money Chain” for the Lady Raiders.

The Lady Raiders earned the victory despite allowing Horsehead to score five runs in the fifth inning. Horsehead’s big bats were led by Molly Wolf, Belle Giammichele, and Rachel Lunger, who each had RBIs in the inning.

South Range got things moving in the first inning, when Kelly Szolek grounded out, scoring one run.

After Horseheads scored one run in the top of the sixth, the Burgundy and Gold answered with one of their own. Horsehead scored when Eva Koratsis’s sac fly scored one run. South Range then answered when an error scored one run.

Samantha Susany led the Raiders to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The righthander allowed five hits and five runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Megan Wolf took the loss for Horsehead. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out one.

Maddie Matkosky started the game for Horsehead. Matkosky lasted four and a third innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out four Juli Stachowicz started the game for the Lady Raiders. The lefty surrendered three runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out eight

South Range Raiders Varsity tallied 11 hits in the game. Szolek, Madison Dado, Feren, and Reagan Irons all collected multiple hits for South Range. Irons, Feren, Dado, and Szolek all had two hits to lead South Range Raiders Varsity.  Feren wore the cape on the day and was the hammering hero in the box with 4 runs batted in.

Horseheads Blue Raiders Varsity collected eight hits on the day. Giammichele, Olivia Packard, and Matkosky all managed multiple hits for Horsehead.

South Range will now turn their attention to Beaver (PA) in a much-anticipated matchup with the Lady Bobcats on Tuesday at 10am.
