LAMSON’S BIG DAY AT PLATE PUSHES WARRIORS PAST SPARTANS

Ashtabula, OH- In a red hot day at the plate, the Edgewood Warriors delivered a commanding 9-0 victory over Conneaut in a thrilling softball matchup on Monday, fueled by a stellar performance from Addison Lamson.

Lamson proved to be a force to be reckoned with, collecting an impressive three hits in four at-bats, playing a crucial role in securing the win for the Warriors. Her consistent hitting throughout the game, with singles in the first, second, and fourth innings, set the tone for Edgewood’s offensive onslaught.
On the pitching mound, Lucianna Paolillo showcased her prowess, striking out an impressive 11 batters while also keeping Conneaut’s offense at bay, surrendering just three hits and zero runs over seven innings of play. Paolillo’s exceptional performance was instrumental in shutting down Conneaut’s scoring opportunities and securing the shutout victory for the Warriors.
Edgewood wasted no time in taking control of the game, opening the scoring in the first inning with Lamson’s timely single that drove in a crucial run. However, it was in the bottom of the second inning where the Warriors truly asserted their dominance, piling on six runs on five hits to extend their lead significantly. Paolillo’s two-run single, along with key hits from Makenna Rhodes, Addison Lamson, and Avery Vencill, propelled Edgewood’s offensive surge and put the game out of reach for Conneaut.
Despite their best efforts, Conneaut struggled to contain Edgewood’s potent offense, with pitcher C. Boyle bearing the brunt of the Warriors’ relentless hitting onslaught. Boyle went six innings, allowing nine runs on 13 hits, with Edgewood’s batters capitalizing on their opportunities to drive in runs and build an insurmountable lead.
With standout performances from players like Lucianna Paolillo, Addison Lamson, and Makenna Rhodes, who each contributed two runs batted in, as well as multiple hits from Faith Vencill, Carly Kray, and Avery Vencill, the Warriors showcased their depth and offensive prowess throughout the game.
McKenna Vencill’s disciplined approach at the plate, drawing two walks, further underscored Edgewood’s patient and strategic approach to scoring runs, while their solid defensive effort ensured that Conneaut was unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities.
With their sights set on their next challenge, the Edgewood Warriors will prepare to face Independence in their upcoming game on Tuesday, looking to carry the momentum from their impressive victory forward. Meanwhile, Conneaut will regroup and prepare to face Erie High School in their next matchup on Wednesday, aiming to bounce back from their defeat against Edgewood.
