WHITESTOWN IN- Austintown finished their long road through the regional tournament on Friday and topped undefeated Iowa 4-0 to advance to the Little League World Series.
Austintown got on the board in the top of the first inning after Iowa committed an error, and Tori Greathouse singled, each scoring one run.
Mila Hamley began the game for Austintown. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Leadoff hitter Seneca Coates led with two hits in three at bats. Greathouse led the lineup with one run batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. The bats also got contributions from Kate Averell, and Zara Burt who each managed a hit as well. Austintown defense was quick on their feet and turned one double play in the game.
Austintown advances to the Little League World Series in Greenville North Carolina. They will be the first game on the schedule and square off with North Carolina on Sunday.
