POLAND WINS BOTH ENDS OF WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER

POLAND OH- Poland had a successful day on Saturday, winning both games of a doubleheader, first defeating Sharpsville 8-1, and then shutting out Howland 3-0.

In the first game against Sharpsville, Poland’s offense came out strong. Leanna Boccieri went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored, while Cassie Blanch contributed with a 2-for-3 performance, driving in 1 RBI and scoring a run. Leanne Williams and Kylie Hudran each had 2 hits and scored runs, and Olivia Horn and Lilly McDonald added RBIs to the scoreboard. Avery Jakubovic also made an impact, driving in 1 RBI and drawing 2 walks.

In the circle for Poland, Olivia Horn was stellar, pitching a complete game of 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 8 batters.

In the second game against Howland, Poland’s offense continued to produce. Leanne Williams went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI, Elliana Thompson scored 2 runs, and Lilly McDonald contributed with 1 RBI.

On the pitching side, Lilly McDonald delivered a shutout performance for Poland, pitching a complete game of 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 5 batters.

For Howland, Alyssa Massucci, Madison Schmitz, and Zoey Tomko each recorded a hit, while Calleigh Luman drew 2 walks.

Maya Kubanscek pitched well for Howland, going 6 innings and allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run while tallying 2 strikeouts.
