AKRON, Ohio— The Archbishop Hoban Knights girls basketball team celebrated Senior Knight in style on Valentine’s Day, showering their three seniors, Maya Pooler, MacKenzie Edingburgh, and Devin Harris, with love from the Knights Kingdom. Following the festivities, Hoban secured a 34-20 victory over the formidable Wadsworth Grizzlies.

In a tightly contested first quarter, Hoban held a narrow 8-7 edge over Wadsworth. The Knights then seized momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Grizzlies 12-7 to carry a 20-14 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Hoban capitalized on their momentum, embarking on a crucial run in the third quarter. With a 12-4 period, the Knights extended their lead to 32-18 heading into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Hoban adopted a strategic approach, controlling the game with deliberate possessions and limiting scoring opportunities for both teams. Ultimately, they secured the 34-20 victory.

In a fitting tribute to the occasion, the seniors took center stage as Players of the Game, their contributions to the game and the season celebrated and recognized by their teammates and fans alike. MacKenzie Edingburgh led the charge with 13 points and 2 rebounds, Devin Harris contributed with 7 points and 6 rebounds and Maya Pooler ran the point to a tee while contributing 2 points and a rebound herself!

With the win, Archbishop Hoban improves to an impressive 16-3 record on the season. Looking ahead, they shift their focus to the tournament, where they will host Barberton (3-19) in a sectional semi-final matchup at The Castle of Barry Gym on Saturday, February 17th, with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
