FALCONS WIN WAR IN THE SKY AGAINST EAGLES

Jefferson, OH- Marillia Matuz collected three hits in three at bats, as the Jefferson Falcons defeated the Geneva Eagles 12-5 on Wednesday. Matuz hit a home run to center field in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

The Geneva Eagles were the first to get on the board in the first when Alyssa Palmisano singled, scoring two runs.

The Jefferson Falcons jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second when Matuz homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Rylee DeMattia singled, scoring one run.

The Jefferson Falcons scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kennidie Rogers singled, scoring one run, Ada Sirrine singled, scoring one run, Lani Zeman scored after tagging up, and DeMattia doubled, scoring two runs.

Sirrine started in the circle for the Jefferson Falcons. The righty gave up 11 hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking three.

Caidyn Siegel led things off in the circle for the Geneva Eagles. They surrendered seven hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three.

The Jefferson Falcons tallied 15 hits in the game. Allison Hill, Sirrine, and Matuz each collected three hits for the Jefferson Falcons. Hill, Matuz, and DeMattia each drove in three runs for the Jefferson Falcons.

The Geneva Eagles piled up 11 hits in the game. Savanna Burton, Palmisano, and Gianna Markijohn each collected two hits for the Geneva Eagles.

Palmisano and Bailey Evangelista each drove in two runs for the Geneva Eagles.

The Jefferson Falcons will travel to their next game on Wednesday.
