SONGER STRIKES OUT 14; EAGLES BLOW PAST NILES

NILES, OH- Braydon Songer was the star on the mound Tuesday, racking up 14 strikeouts and giving up just one hit as Hubbard shut down Niles  8-0.

Songer dominated all seven innings, keeping the runs off the board and issuing four walks.

The scoring started early for Hubbard when Johnny Reyes knocked a single to bring in the first run. The action heated up in the second with Noah Adamson ripping a triple to pad the lead.

Geno Leshnack chipped in with a single in the third, bumping the lead to three. Then just one day after throwing a no-hitter,  Tyler Wright cranked a two-run homer to right field in the fourth, really opening up the game for Hubbard.

Niles McKinley’s starter Brixton Gilmour faced a tough outing, surrendering six runs on 11 hits through five innings.

Hubbard’s bats were hot, racking up 13 hits. Songer and Leshnack both bagged a pair of hits, contributing big to the team’s offensive firepower.

Adamson and Wright both plated two runs each, adding to the day’s haul. Defensively, Hubbard was flawless, with Reyes getting his hands on the most chances with 11 plays.

Landon Turner managed the only hit for Niles McKinley, finding some space in his three trips to the plate.

Hubbard’s next challenge is a road game against LaBrae this Thursday. They’ll be looking to carry this momentum forward.
