WHITING DESTROYS CSA

Nothing came easy for CSA on Thursday, as they fell 16-0 to Whiting Roll-Offs.

One bright spot for CSA was a double by Noah Adamson in the second inning.

Joey Pugh got the start for Whiting. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over two innings, striking out three and walking one.

John  Darnley was on the hill for CSA. He surrendered eight runs on four hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one. 

Adamson, and Andrew Brown all had one hit to lead CSA.

Whiting racked up 12 hits.  Grant Melder, Ben Miller, Nick Thomas and Owen Keister each collected multiple hits.  Grant led Whiting with three hits in four at bats.

PROSPECTS PICTURE PERFECT IN VICTORY

Prospects defeated CSA 7-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Stephen Palmer induced a fly out from Andrew Brown to finish off the game.

Prospects secured the victory thanks to four runs in the second inning.  Anthony Marimpietri, Kris Hrosar, Nico Ciminero, and Cobey Airwikie each had RBIs in the big inning.

Prospects opened up scoring in the first inning, when they scored one run on a stolen base.

Prospects scored four runs in the second inning.  Their offense in the inning was led by Marimpietri, Hrosar, Ciminero, and Airwyke, all driving in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for CSA was a double by Ethan  Feezle in the fourth inning.

Freddy Bolchalk was the winning pitcher for Prospects. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over five and a third innings, striking out 11.  Palmer threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Palmer recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Youngstown Class B Prospect Pirates 14U 2020.

Noah Adamson took the loss for CSA. He allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings.

Donovan McCoy led Prospects with two hits in two at bats.  

Feezle went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead CSA.

CSA SECURES VICTORY THANKS TO EARLY LEAD

STRUTHERS OH-

Creekside fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-2 loss to CSA  on Tuesday.  CSA scored on a single by Trent Porter in the second inning and a double by Mike Gushura in the second inning.

In the bottom of the first inning,   Creekside tied things up at one.  Donovan Bell-sullivan drove in one when he singled.

CSA pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.  In the second Porter singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Gushura doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Ethan  Feezle was credited with the victory for CSA. He went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out seven.  Andrew Brown threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Aaron Doughty took the loss for   Creekside. He lasted two innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out one.

Tyler Mikulin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead  Creekside.

Gushura led CSA with two hits in three at bats.

WHITING SWEEPS THE NIGHT

CSA watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-4  Whiting Roll-Offs on Monday. Whiting scored on a double by Grant Melder, a single by Will Gubba, and a triple by Derek Curry in the first inning.

The CSA struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Whiting giving up 15 runs.

Whiting opened up scoring in the first inning.  Melder drove in one when he doubled.

CSA put up four runs in the fourth inning.  Batters contributing to the big inning included Isaiah Torres and Trent Porter, all driving in runs in the frame.

Whiting scored five runs in the fourth inning.  Batters contributing to the big inning included Derek Cury, Corbin Sevcik, and Grayson Hooks, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Joey Pugh was on the mound for Whiting. He lasted three innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking zero.

Shaun Updegraff started the game for CSA. He allowed four hits and four runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one.  John  Darnley, Carson Fuller, Nick Kyprianou, and Andrew Brown each entered the game as relief, throwing one inning, one inning, one inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

Torres led CSA with two hits in three at bats.

Whiting racked up 12 hits on the day.  Cury, Sevcik, and Gubba all collected multiple hits for  Whiting.  Cury went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead.
