BURY EXTRAORDINARY

Life is fast right now for the Leader of the Pack in Poland.  With her team undefeated currently, Poland Senior Sarah Bury continues to be a leader on the court for the Lady Dogs.  The fact that Bury recently became one of the few Poland Lady Bulldogs to eclipse the 1000-point mark is exceptional, however, the fact that she had no idea that she was on pace for the mark speaks more to her character than any basket ever could.

Oh, and by the way, her coach had to insist that she shoot the ball instead of passing to her teammate in order to land the feat.  That tells you all you need to know in that story, alone.

YSN’s Anthony Hartwig sat down with the very humble, well spoken, and team-oriented, Sarah Bury for this week’s Poland Girls Hoops Profile: BURY EXTRAORDINARY

TOO LIGGETT TO QUIT

Senior Clipper Cager, Tessa Liggett has had quite the campaign with Columbiana.  She’s known for her incredible skill on the court, but her accomplishments in the classroom are notable as well.  Flanked by 1000-point scorers this year, Tess has made a career of outworking her opponents.  Flying under the radar hasn’t been such a bad thing, as with most teams Liggett would be the team’s top scorer, but as we’ve seen in the professional ranks, it’s a team full of superstars that win championships.

With diamonds on her mind, Tessa and her team are building for the long-haul.  Their focus is firmly set on championships at the highest levels.  As you’ll hear in our sit-down with her, Liggett is looking to engineer things in her near future, and that very well could start with an EOAC Championship in 2019.

YSN’s Mark Franken sat down with Tessa for this week’s Columbiana Player Profile: TOO LIGGETT TO QUIT!

COLUMBIANA COACH’S CORNER WITH TODD JOHNSON (EP 2)

The Clippers are back and are led by Third-year Skipper Todd Johnson.  The Clippers are still searching for consistency, but it’s the depth of the bench and a couple 3rd-year starters in leadership positions is something that Coach J is looking to pay off this year.

Is this the year that the Clippers retake their throne at the top of the league?

YSN’s Mark Franken sits down with Coach to discuss the year ahead, and what the expectations are for the Red and White.

Are the Clips the front-runners for the EOAC?  Can they knock-off the returning champs in Toronto?

All that and more in the year’s second edition of Columbiana Coach’s Corner with Todd Johnson!

FIRE AND ICE

The Mooney Super-Athlete, Anthony Fire has made a career for himself by making it very difficult to take him out of the game.  In football, he serves in all three phases of the game: offense, defense, and special teams.  Much of the same in basketball as Fire is known to play the entire length of the court.

Anthony is a young man known for the fire in his heart, and the ice in his veins.

The Cardinal Mooney Senior Standout sat down with YSN’s Nate Keiper to discuss what he feels he brings to the team, how he goes about transitioning from season to season, as well as so much more!

We bring you this week’s Cardinal Mooney Basketball Player Profile: FIRE AND ICE!

After a great stretch, the Lady Dogs have celebrated Christmas, and have rung in 2019, and as they prepare for a battle with EOAC Rival, Columbiana, we chatted it up with the Head Ball Coach and what he attributes to the success, as well as what type of resolutions he’s making in the New Year for himself, and his team!

DRIVING THE BUS

There’s certain momentum in Bulldog Country these days!  Coach Franklin has the East Palestine Girls Basketball team hitting on all cylinders, and leading the way is one of the teams top rebounders and Senior, Sara Buskirk.  “Buzz” as they affectionately refer to her has been in the program for 4 years and has seen the shift in the culture, and spirit over her tenure.  This year, Sara has jumped at the opportunity of her role on the hardwood and serves as a pillar of the team’s success.

We had a chance to pick her brain after her career-best ballgame and ask her about what makes her tick, and what (and who) motivates her on and off the court.  This week’s East Palestine Player Profile is with Sara Buskirk: DRIVING THE BUS.
