TIGERS POUNCE ON WESTERN RESERVE

SPRINGFIELD OH- The time has come for the Springfield Tigers to focus on returning to the State Championship game. They took their first step on Saturday winning a rematch with Western Reserve 35-7.

The Tigers scored on their very first offensive snap as Bo Snyder took a 60 yard run to the house. This was after a big stop on defense on a Blue Devils 4th and 1 at the 40. Springfield would go on to score in all four of their first half possessions. Beau Brungard ran one in from three yards out, then found Seandelle Gardner for a 25 yard touchdown pass. After recovering an onside kick, Brungard then found Jakob Joyce for a 35 yard touchdown before the end of the half.

The Blue Devils scores their first touchdown of the season against Springfield late in the game when Nicky Cavoulas found Brock Miller for a 68 yard touchdown.

Springfield advances to host St Thomas Aquinas next Saturday at 7:00.

SPRINGFIELD MAKES QUICK WORK OF BLUE JAYS

NORTH JACKSON OH- Another season, another undefeated record for the Springfield Tigers. They came in to week 6 still needing a win to earn an outright championship in the MVAC. They left no doubts in anyone’s mind who would be crowned in the end with a dominating 44-8 victory.

Beau Brungard threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those scores found his favorite target of the night Jake Joyce. Joyce totaled 62 receiving yards. Clayton Nezbeth also caught a touchdown from Brungard.

Jackson Milton struggled, but was still able to get a highlight caliber throw from Frankie Prozy. He found Cole Grope for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Springfield has earned a bye week in the OHSAA playoffs. They’ll await the winner of Western Reserve vs Columbiana. Jackson Milton will also have a week off, however their opponent is already set as they will travel to McDonald on October 16th.

 

TIGERS PROVE TOO MUCH FOR WESTERN RESERVE

BERLIN CENTER OH- The Springfield Tigers has to grind through a slow start to eventually cruise to a 31-0 victory over Western Reserve on Friday night.

Western Reserve’s first drive are up 10 minutes of clock. But the Devils couldn’t finish the drive as it stalled in  Springfield territory. After the Tigers went up 3-0, the Devils had another opportunity. With the ball inside the ten, the Tigers defense stiffened up and held the Devils scoreless. That would end up being Western Reserve’s Final opportunity to be competitive as the Tigers scored the next 28 points and won 31-0.

Beau Brungard led the Tigers offensive attack on the ground with 6 rushes for 80 yards and 2 TDs. Through the air he went 9/13 for 182 yards. Clayton Nezbeth tumbled into the endzone twice.

David Altiere tan hard for the Devils. On 26 rushes, he ran for 108 yards. That’s an average of 4.2 yards a carry.

Springfield finally gets a home game next Friday as they host McDonald. Western Reserve will have to regroup on the road as they travel to Mineral Ridge.
