BOARDMAN TAKES 11U DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT FROM POLAND

BOARDMAN, OH- All eyes were on the Field of Dreams in Boardman on Wednesday, and rightfully so with what was about to transpire.

After starting out on fire and to the tune of a 10-1 lead, Boardman had to battle some adversity late in the ballgame against Poland’s finest.  The Poland 11U All-Stars could have easily rolled over and let their opponents finish their season without a fight, but that was hardly the case.  In fact, it was quite the opposite.

Boardman took an 8-0 lead through the first two innings courtesy of offensive power from Anthony Groner and Collin Resetar.  Groner also started the game on the hill for the Boardman All-Stars.

Dylan Kelty was the tough-luck loser of the ball game for Poland and was backed up in relief by Owen McKenzie.

Poland scored 8 unanswered runs to bring the game within one run in the final frame, but couldn’t find the magic tying run, and fall to the final of 10-9.

With the victory, Boardman moves on to play in Cambridge for the State Tournament that begins July 27th.

BOARDMAN, OH- Your Sports Network (YSN) will once again be your streaming home to watch District and State coverage of 10U and 12U Youth Baseball.  Last year, Boardman made an incredible run that was cut short of the state title.  This year, several teams from The Valley are hungry to raise the banner at districts and show their talent off at the next level.

Coverage begins on Saturday with some of your favorite announcers from the Network.

Stay tuned to social media channels for times and matchups.

YSN will also play home to the 50/70 Tournament July 6-10 from Boardman’s Field of Dreams.  Loveland, Green, and Jefferson will join homestead Boardman in a tournament to see who advances to Kalamazoo, Michigan for Regionals. (See bracket for more details)
