UNITED USES EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TO GET PAST PALESTINE

HANOVERTON OH- United came into Tuesday night looking to erase the memory of two consecutive losses at the hands of two of the best teams in the EOAC. East Palestine traveled to Hanoverton looking for their first victory of the 2023 season. The Golden Eagles did just enough to outlast the Bulldogs in 5 sets 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 23-25,15-7.

Grace Knight would lead the way for United tallying 16 kills and 4 aces. Grayson Kidder added 14 kills, teammate Madelynn Lucas set up her teammates with 45 assists. Baylee Smith led the victors defensively with 26 digs.

East Palestine’s Sophia Fertsch contributed 9 kills and 12 digs. The Bulldogs also received contributions from Mackenzie Parker 11 assists, 5 kills and Marah Zimmermann 5 kills and 5 blocks. Leila Martin played solidly on defense with 17 digs.

East Palestine (0-3, 0-2) looks for their first win on Wednesday as they host Heartland Christian. United (3-2, 1-2) continues their EOAC schedule on Thursday as Lisbon pays visit to Hanoverton.

RAIDERS STORM THE GATES TO SWEEP POLAND

POLAND OH- South Range displayed an outstanding performance on the road, sweeping Poland in a decisive victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-8, and 25-23.

The visiting team’s prowess was undeniable, as they controlled the game from start to finish. Notable individual achievements underscored South Range’s dominance, with Hayden Carey tallying an impressive 14 assists. However, it was freshman Anna Toy who stole the spotlight, recording a double-double with 15 kills, 7 aces, and 14 digs. Maddie Mook contributed 6 kills and 4 aces, while Olivia Meli added 5 kills and 2 aces to the team’s remarkable performance.

On the other side, Poland’s efforts were evident through Izzy Greco’s 6 kills and 3 blocks, as well as Bella Khoury’s impressive 14 digs and Olivia Minehart’s 11 digs and 4 kills.

Looking ahead, South Range’s momentum continues as they prepare to face Girard on Thursday. Meanwhile, Poland will be aiming for redemption on the road against Hubbard.

POLAND BULLDOGS GOLF COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH PAT CARDEN

POLAND, OH – Head coach Pat Carden and the Poland Bulldogs boys golf team are hitting their stride on the course as they have been posting scores that are rivaling some of the best scores in school history. Coming off a great display in their last match at Mahoning Country Club against Girard, the boys look to keep that rolling this week against Wilmington on Monday, Hubbard on Tuesday, and Niles on Thursday.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Carden at Combine Brothers this week to talk about the season so far, who has really stuck out this year for the Bulldogs, what it takes on a daily basis to coach a golf team, and so much more!

POLAND, OH – The Poland Bulldogs boys golf team is off to a hot start in 2023 and the squad is being led by a fantastic group of golfers who seem to be playing at a level that hasn’t been seen in sometime! So far this year the Poland faithful have seen Angelo Rinaldi, a freshman, tie a school record with a round of 31 and Michael Chambers score a hole in one at Yankee Run!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down at Combine Brothers this week with Angelo and Michael to get a feel for how special this golf season has been for the two of them, what playing at Poland means to these guys, how it felt to score a hole in one for Michael as well as how it felt for Angelo to tie a school record, and a rapid fire questionnaire where Steve gets to dive into what makes these two golfers the players they are today!

POLAND, OH – The Poland Bulldogs football team has opened up the 2023 season at 2-0 and are looking to keep that momentum building as they start getting into the middle of the season. When it comes to keeping that momentum going and building upon early season success, the Bulldogs will lean on their leadership and keeping each other accountable. One player who will be leaned on a lot on both sides of the football is Antonio Medina! Antonio not only is a vocal leader for this team but he is also one that lets his play speak for itself. Medina is one of the people who is always communicating on defense from his middle linebacker spot and can be seen flying all over the field making plays. Not only does he take over games on defense, he can always be counted on for a key block or big reception from his tightend spot on offense!

POLAND, OH – When you think of the Poland Bulldogs football team and previous teams in recent memories, one might think of how dominant the offensive and defensive lines are and have been. The reason these lines have been so dominant is not only that the boys up front take pride in moving the football on offense and shutting down the other team on defense but also that the leadership and tight knit group is strong as ever. One leader on both sides of the ball is senior, Alex Stefek. Stefek is one of those hardnosed players who loves physical football and loves the opportunity to play Bulldog football.

POLAND, OH – Coming off back to back victories to start the 2023 season, head coach Tom Pavlansky and the Poland Bulldogs are looking to keep that momentum going as they will start to hit midseason form in all aspects of the season. Last week, the Dogs traveled up to Howland and came away with a convincing 41-0 victory, this week they will stay home for their home opener and take on a 1-1 Firelands team in what could be another solid outing for Poland.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Pav at Combine Brothers to talk about the big week two victory, what he took away from the film and how he will plan on using those takeaways in practice to get ready for week three, and what Coach’s keys to the game are for a big week three match up at home.

BULLDOGS TAKE A BITE OUT OF RAIDERS

CANFIELD, OH-In a closely contested football game, the Green Bulldogs emerged victorious against the South Range Raiders with a final score of 21-7. Both teams displayed skill and determination, but Green’s strategic plays and defensive prowess ultimately secured their win.

**First Quarter:**
The game kicked off with a competitive spirit from both sides. However, it was the Green Bulldogs who made the initial impact. Quarterback Samino Manson connected with his receivers, completing 69% of his passes for a total of 254 yards. This included two touchdown passes to advance the Bulldogs’ lead. The quarter ended with Green leading 14-0.

**Second Quarter:**
The South Range Raiders fought back in the second quarter, showcasing their defensive strength and managing to keep Green from scoring. Despite their best efforts, the Bulldogs’ defense held firm, preserving their lead.

**Third Quarter:**
Both teams demonstrated resilience in the third quarter. Green’s Antonio Martin led the charge with a rushing touchdown, extending their lead to 21-0. South Range intensified their efforts on both sides of the ball, aiming to narrow the deficit.

**Fourth Quarter:**
As the game entered its final quarter, the South Range Raiders managed to break through the Bulldogs’ defense and scored a touchdown. However, the Bulldogs’ defense remained steadfast, preventing further scoring opportunities for the Raiders. The game concluded with a final score of 21-7 in favor of the Green Bulldogs.

– Samino Manson, Green’s quarterback, exhibited excellent accuracy with a 69% completion rate and 254 passing yards, along with two touchdown passes.

POLAND CONTINUES PUNISHMENT TOUR

HOWLAND, OH- The highly anticipated match between the Poland Bulldogs and the Howland Tigers resulted in a resounding victory for the Bulldogs with a final score of 41-0. From the opening quarter to the final whistle, Poland displayed dominance on both offense and defense, leaving no room for Howland to gain a foothold in the game.

**First Quarter:**
The Bulldogs quickly set the tone with a defensive touchdown as Oliver McCully capitalized on a fumble return, followed by Jas Stefancin’s successful kick. The momentum continued as Cole Fulton powered through for a 1-yard touchdown run, and Dominic Pagano added another touchdown with a 16-yard run, both enhanced by Stefancin’s precise kicks. The first quarter concluded with Poland leading 21-0.

**Second Quarter:**
Poland’s offensive prowess continued into the second quarter as Dominic Pagano connected with Vito Komara for a 17-yard touchdown pass, adding to the Bulldogs’ lead. The Bulldogs’ Danny Nittoli contributed with a 7-yard touchdown run, though the extra point kick went wide, leaving the score at 34-0 in favor of Poland.

**Third Quarter:**
The Bulldogs maintained their dominance into the third quarter, with Ryan Snyder’s 1-yard run for a touchdown punctuated by another successful kick by Jas Stefancin. The quarter ended with Poland holding a commanding lead of 41-0.

**Fourth Quarter:**
Both teams displayed valiant efforts in the fourth quarter, but no further points were added to the scoreboard, resulting in a final score of 41-0 in favor of the Poland Bulldogs.

– Cole Fulton showcased his skill with a 75-yard run and a touchdown.

POLAND GETS IN THE WIN COLUMN

POLAND OH- Poland made a strong statement with a decisive sweep against Niles, securing their first win of the season in three commanding sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-18). The victory showcased their determination and teamwork on the court.

Olivia Minehart led the offensive charge with an impressive 14 kills, displaying her prowess at the net. Bella Khoury’s defensive efforts were outstanding, contributing 16 digs to keep key plays alive. Mya Scott delivered a serving masterclass with 6 aces, keeping the pressure on Niles.

Izzy Greco played a key role in the blocking department with 2 blocks, disrupting Niles’ attempts to gain momentum. Mya Scott’s playmaking skills were evident with 11 assists, effectively setting up her teammates for successful attacks.

With this convincing win, Poland’s confidence is surely on the rise as they look forward to hosting Champion on Monday. The team’s synchrony and skill on display bode well for their upcoming matches.
