MINERAL RIDGE BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH AMY HARRISON

MINERAL RIDGE, OH- In a recent episode of the YSN podcast, Mineral Ridge Lady Rams’ coach, Amy Harrison, sat down with host DJ Yokley to discuss the team’s remarkable 22-season, which culminated in an 11-1 record and a share of the MVAC championship.

During the interview, Coach Harrison reflected on the program’s success and the transition from being a player to coaching a new generation of players. She expressed gratitude for the coaching she received as a player and highlighted the continuity of the program as former players, now coaches themselves, are involved in shaping the next generation of players.

Moreover, Coach Harrison shared her pride in the team’s accomplishments and discussed how she instills the value of pride, respect, and multi-sport participation in her players. She also acknowledged the challenges faced by female athletes and emphasized the importance of encouraging versatile athletic participation.

Looking towards the future, Coach Harrison discussed the transition from a winning season to preparing for new challenges, noting the significance of maintaining the players’ confidence and drive for success. COLUMBIANA, OH- In a recent episode of the YSN podcast’s “Coach’s Corner”, Tristan Reynolds, the head coach of the East Palestine Bulldogs boys basketball team, sat down to discuss the team’s progress and his personal Thanksgiving favorites. As the Bulldogs embark on their second year under Reynolds’ leadership, there is a renewed sense of excitement surrounding the program.

Reynolds expressed his enthusiasm for the growing numbers of players in the basketball program. He attributed this success to the strong support from the community and the school. The coach spoke fondly about East Palestine’s basketball history, highlighting the team’s championship-winning years under the legendary Bingham.

When asked about his team’s prospects for the upcoming seasons, Reynolds emphasized the importance of a strong work ethic and a buy-in from his players. He praised the toughness of the athletes who also played football, believing it would translate into their basketball performances. The coach expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete and put on a show for their supporters.

Reynolds spoke highly of the players who will play key roles for the Bulldogs. Owen Yuriyuchi, the team’s captain, was commended for his versatility and leadership qualities. East Palestine’s schedule includes games against Urban Scholars, Kingsway Christian, East Liverpool Christian, Springfield, and Lordstown.

In a departure from the basketball talk, Reynolds agreed to participate in a fantasy Thanksgiving draft with the podcast host. With his first pick, Reynolds surprised listeners by selecting his mother’s famous pepperoni rolls. He went on to choose buttered rolls, turkey, stuffing, and cranberry ginger ale to complete his Thanksgiving favorites.

As the interview wrapped up, Reynolds reflected on his growth as a head coach and the responsibilities that come with the position. He acknowledged that coaching at the varsity level involves more than just on-court strategy, as it requires representing the school and community.

POLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW (WITH NICK BLANCH)

Poland has made it to their second straight district championship game. They are looking to defend their title that they won last season. Standing in their way is area powerhouse West Branch. These two teams met in last year’s district semifinals. Poland took a competitive game that day on their way to a championship. Both teams return a lot of the roster from last year, so all signs point to another competitive game.

Poland has won two hard fought games to get to this point. First Poland beat Struthers for the third time this year 56-43. They only led 26-23 at half. Then in the district semifinals Poland found themselves in yet another battle. Only up three at half again 22-19 the Bulldogs has to dig deep to grab a 47-36 win. West Branch has won two lopsided games. Their first victim was Ravenna 55-5. Then they took it to EBC rival Salem 47-19.

All signs point to a great title game and YSN has you covered with a championship preview from coach Blanch.

The Austintown district championship is Saturday at Austintown Fitch at 7:00.

SALEM TRACK TEAMS TAKE TOP PRIZE AT COLUMBIANA COUNTY MEET
