EAGLE WEAR WINS SLUGFEST OVER DURA EDGE

STRUTHERS OH- Eagle Wear took an early 2-0 lead in the 1st on Monday night setting the tone for what would be a high scoring affair. After Dura Edge took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 3rd, Eagle Wear responded with a 5 spot making it 7-3. Dura Edge would eventually cut it to 7-5, but Eagle Wear added an insurance run in the 5th to cap off a 8-5 victory.

Teddy Ruffner had a huge day at the plate for Eagle Wear going 2-3 with 3 RBI. Matt Womer went 1-3 with 2 RBI.

William Schaffer had the big day for Dura Edge going 2-4 with 3 RBI. Joey Perfette went 2-2 with a RBI.

Josh Corll got the win for Eagle Wear going 4 IP with 5 ER and 3 K. He threw 91 pitches.

DURA EDGE JUMPS ON EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- the sun was shining on a beautiful day to open up Class B Baseball on Sunday at Bob Cene Park. In the 16u division Dura Edge got their summer off to a hot start with a 13-5 win over Eagle Wear.

Edge jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning, adding more runs 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings. Eagle Wear scored 1 in the 2nd and 3rd, and 3 in the 5th.

Caleb Jones led Dura Edge on offense going 2-2 with 3 RBI. Anthony Malagise also collected 2 hits going 2-3 with a pair of RBI.

Eagle Wear’s offense was spread out as seven players contributed a hit a piece. Ethan Prout, Dashawn Gunther-Putnam, Chris Altiere, and Joe Roth all had a RBI.

Tyler Rekich got the win on the mound for Dura Edge. He struck out a pair.

18U: MALAGESE LEADS DURA-EDGE PAST PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS, OH- Dura-Edge (6-6) evened up their record on Saturday when they were able to contain the Comeback Kids, 13-5.  Lately, the Prospects (8-4) have been making headlines for their late-inning heroics, but the combination of Brian Shevitz and Shane Swogger on the mound proved to be enough for Dura-Edge.

Shevitz would pick up the victory in relief going 2 innings, giving up a pair of runs on 4 hits, 4 walks, and striking out one.  Swogger walked one, and struck out six over four innings, scattering 3 hits along the way.

John Malagese would lead the offensive attack for the black and gold with 3 RBI.  Braden Olson would go 2-3 with a walk and had a single and double as well, while Malagese would go 1-2 with a pair of walks and a triple.  The Edgers also had three players with 2 RBI’s apiece, Dom Wade, Matt Senchak, and Andrew Sabella.

Brent Pitzer would suffer the loss appearing in just an inning and giving up 3 runs in the outing.  Johnnie Mikos and Cam Kreps would also appear on the mound, combining for nine walks and 5 strikeouts giving up 9 runs.

Nick Guarnieri would lead the Bucco offense with a pair of doubles, and 2 RBI.

18U- RUSSELL TOSSES ONE-HITTER, FALCONS FLY OVER DURA EDGE

STRUTHERS, OH- Andrew Russell continues to shine this season in Class B, but that’s no surprise if you follow this young man for any length of time.  Russell took the mound on Friday and was outstanding allowing only a single hit in four innings of work against Dura Edge in a 10-0 victory.

Russell struck out 5 batters in 4 innings of work on Friday.

The offense was sparked early with runs in each of the first four innings.  The Astro Falcons (8-1) scored three runs in all but the second inning where they had a single tally.  Leading the way was Bryce Warwick with a 2-3 night, driving in three runners.  Kevin Vaupel accounted for a pair of runs personally, and also drove in a pair.  Russell also drove in a run to help his own cause.  Chase Franken and Vince Armeni each had 2 stolen bases on the night.

Braden Olson (0-1) took the loss for Dura Edge (4-6) giving up 3 hits and 7 runs in two innings.  Olson also struck out five and walked three.  Jarett Wright pitched in relief and gave up 3 runs (1 earned) on a pair of hits while walking four over two innings.

Matt Senchak had the lone hit for Dura Edge.

16U: DURA EDGE SCRAPES BY EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS, OH- Offense was at a premium until halfway through the game, but that’s where Dura Edge found their groove in a 4-2 victory over Eagle Wear on Friday.

Kyle Yost led the way with three hits, a stolen base, and an RBI, while Mike Galterio and Braden Gebhardt contributed with a pair of hits apiece, part of the 10-hit showing for Dura Edge.  Gebhardt also contributed a pair of runs batted in for the Edge.

Gebhardt also was credited for the victory in two innings of work on the mound in relief.  Sam Basso started the game for Dura Edge going five innings, giving up six hits, one run, a pair of walks while striking out seven.

For Eagle Wear, Blaine Barr was the tough-luck loser pitching an inning in relief, giving up a pair of runs on two hits.  Sam Campbell was the starter who put in 5 innings giving up eight hits, a walk, 2 runs, and striking out four.

Offensively Eagle Wear had 8 hits.  Ian Barton and Anthony Caruso had two hits apiece.  Joe Roth was 1 for 1 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.
