LADY EAGLES SCRATCHED BY SPRINGFIELD

HANOVERTON, OH- The Lady Eagles came out with a strong “united” front defensively in the first tournament round at United High School against the Springfield Lady Tigers.  It was the The Lady Eagles’ missed scoring opportunities that cost them in the end as they fell 38-31 to Springfield.

For the Eagles Celeste Hofmeister had 13 points, Celeste Powers had a great game defensively and also scored 13 points with 6 rebounds. Makenzy Capouellez posted 13 points of the Lady Tigers.

Springfield now heads to Salem to take on the EBC Champion Lady Quakers on Saturday.

BAKER, BAKER: THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MAKER

United Local’s Landon Baker is a high-caliber young man.  No ego, no strings, comes from a great family, very respectful, hard-nosed, blue-collar kind of gentlemen you’d want your daughter to date.  Add in that he’s a double-double machine that’s somehow flown under the radar all year while being one of the most dominant players on the court game in and game out??  To borrow a quote from Beyonce “Put a ring on it.”

Maybe not the same ring we’re talking about in the above paragraph, but Landon Baker knows what he’s worked so hard for, and he’s working toward some bling at the end of the season.  The Senior is averaging nearly 15 points and 11 rebounds per game, and also chips in with steals (1.6) while staying under 3 fouls per game on average.  That tells you that there’s discipline in his dedication that is leading to results.

Baker also has an incredible head on his shoulders and shares the same dreams as one of his teammates.  While he may not be providing electricity at the next level in college, he may be doing it in other ways.

We sit down with this week’s United Local Basketball Player Profile: BAKER, BAKER: THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MAKER.

HYD’ AND SEEK

United Local Senior, Parker Hydrick has been a key cog in the Eagle Basketball Revival.  Currently averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists per game, Hydrick commands respect from his opponents on both sides of the court.

He’s not the type of young man that boasts or brags about his achievements, either.  In fact, he’s one of the most modest individuals you’ll meet.  It’s much like pulling teeth to get him to take credit for what he’s done while in the program, he gives all the credit to his teammates and coaches.  However, when it comes down to winning, nobody wants that more than Parker, and there’s no hiding the fact that he’s taking aim at a long flight during the OHSAA Tournament.

A key contributor and letterman for the last 3 years and a 2018 Baird Brothers Big Dog of the Valley weekly winner, Parker Hydrick is the focus of our United Local Player Profile: HYD’ AND SEEK!
