DEVILS REGAIN FOCUS IN 2020; UPSET WELLSVILLE

LISBON, OH- If you’re a fan of motivational coaches, you don’t have to look very far to find one in Lisbon.  Chris Huckshold is renowned for firing up his team, and in turn, his team fires off victories that raise eyebrows county-wide.

Friday was no different.

The Blue Devils have had struggles in the early going after losing their all-time leading scorer Justin Sweeney to graduation.  However, if you ask any of the current players, they don’t buy into that excuse anymore, and on Friday a true TEAM victory propelled Lisbon back into the EOAC spotlight after a convincing 60-34 victory over rival Wellsville.

Ryan “Peanut” McCullough played inspired with 22 points and four assists, while the big man, Blayne Brownfield chipped in 14 points.  Adam Spencer cleaned the glass all night on his way to 11 boards.  Michael Davis had 6 rebounds, while Joey Fisher had 4 helpers and 4 steals for the Devils.

For Wellsville, Justin Wright had 10 points.

Wellsville (2-4) will return to action today on the road in Oak Glen, while Lisbon (3-7) will host Heartland Christian on Tuesday.

NOT BLUE ANY LONGER, DEVILS NOTCH FIRST VICTORY

LISBON, OH- In a battle of teams looking to right the ship in the 2019 campaign, Lisbon knew they had to do more than average to beat a gritty East Palestine team.  They needed a budding star to emerge and take the reigns on the future, and they got that in RJ Schreffler on Friday when they rushed past the Bulldogs 26-7.

Schreffler ran for a trio of touchdowns on the night during his 21 rush, 108-yard performance.  Tyler Welsh also had a big night with a pair of scores, both on the ground.  Joey Fisher was the leading receiver with a catch for 25 yards.

For East Palestine, Dominick Cathers racked up 142 yards on 29 rushes while scoring the second touchdown of the season for the Brown and White.  Tyler Bistarkey was 2/3 from behind center and also had a reception on the night.

Lisbon improves to 1-3 while East Palestine still searches for their first win of the season.
