MOONEY CANT HOLD ON LATE AGAINST LINSLY

WHEELING WV- In a game where Mooney’s defense felt like that had a grasp of, Linsly would eventually find ways to score late and steal a win from the Cardinals 28-14.

Mooney scored first setting the tone with a huge touchdown pass from Ashton O’Brien who found Alec DelSignore.  O’Brien would later hook up with Nolan Radinsky to double their lead in the first half to 14-0.  However the second half would turn out of control. Linsly lashed out with 28 unanswered points in the final two frames.

Mooney is now sitting at 1-3 on the season and will look to grab a win in Week 5 as they travel to Lutheran East on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:00.

CARDINALS CANT KEEP UP WITH LINSLY

MINERAL RIDGE OHIO. At the home of the Mineral Ridge Rams, the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals faced off against the visiting Linsly Cadets, who traveled close to two hours from West Virginia.

The Cardinals offense was led by running back Davontae Miller, who at times found great space to show off his speed but the Cadets caught on quick and kept Miller contained as the Cardinals still managed to fight there way out of stuff tough situations and put on 21 points on the score board.

The Cadets from Wheeling, West Virginia came out were wheeling and dealing all night long as there offense led by quarterback Luca Di’Lorenzo were hard to stop tonight as they scored 35 points on the cardinals tonight, making the final score 35-21.

The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals will be back in action and still look to get there first win next week against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons.

HOPPEL NETS A PAIR, LADY BEAVERS HOLD OFF LINSLY

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The Beaver Local girls soccer team got back to its winning ways on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over Wheeling Linsly on Tuesday. The Beavers scored with 28:29 in the first half on a goal by senior Madeline Smith with a nice assist by sophomore Chansyn Hoppel. The Beavers almost scored again 2 minutes later off of a corner kick but were turned away by Linsly Cadets goalkeeper Mia Camps. Camps also made 7 saves in the 1st half alone to keep the score 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.

In the 2nd half, the Beavers extended the lead to 2-0 with 23:58 left on a goal by Chansyn Hoppel. Linsly scored both of their goals in the 2nd half, with 18:50 in the game off of a free kick by Sofia Robertson, then a little over 2 minutes later by Athena Marino, tying the score 2-2. Then the Beavers reclaimed the lead with 15:47 on a 2nd goal by Hoppel. Chansyn Hoppel led the Beavers with 2 goals & an assist. Hoppel almost scored a 3rd for the Beavers with 5 minutes remaining but her shot said just inches above the crossbar. Halley Russell made 4 saves for Beaver Local, 2 in each half, to preserve the victory.

The Beavers are now 4-0-1 as they take on Indian Creek next Tuesday. Wheeling Linsly falls to 2-3.

LADY REBS REMAIN PERFECT BEHIND DEFENSIVE EXCELLENCE.

LINSLY, WV- The Crestview Lady Rebels traveled across the state boundaries to play its first OVAC league game of the year. The game was scoreless thru regulation, a defensive battle for both teams.

It wasn’t until the top of the 8th when McKenna Schultz worked a walk, then with one out the Rebels got back to the top of the order when Haley Eskra hit a line drive single to center field, followed by an Olivia Strank single to the shortstop. With the bases loaded Skyler Mattern hit a fly ball to the 3rd for the second out. The next batter Karsyn Moore drew a walk for the first run, followed by yesterday’s hero Kaedyn Sutton ripping a double to left center field to score Eskra & Strank.  Offensively, Olivia Strank led the Rebels with two singles. Kaedyn Sutton picked up the win.

For Linsly Recrosio and Heller each had 2 hits. Smith took the loss. Crestview improves to 4-0 on the season.

Crestview will be hosting a triple header tomorrow with Southeast Ravenna & Girard. Crestview vs Southeast will kick off the day at 11:00 am. This triple headers proceeds will be donated to The 4C’s Food Pantry (Crestview Churches Community Concerns)
