WHEN IN DOUBT, KIBLER CAN

HANOVERTON OH- If you go back to 2009, United might just have more league titles than any other team in girls basketball in the area in that span of time. The program has been headed up by outstanding leaders that know how to get the best out of the people around them. The latest of those leaders is Madison Kibler.

Madison has done so much to get to where she is at. You won’t find a player that puts in more time to her craft. You can find proof of that statement simply by watching the growth she has shown since her freshman year. She got her own taste of varsity time on the court her first year of high school, and never wanted to let it go again.  Now here she stands as a captain her senior season, and one of the best guards the area has to offer.  After all, there’s a reason she wears the number 1 on her jersey.  The teammates that will still be in the program after she graduates have learned from her constant work ethic and leadership. You can be sure that her footprints will be seen on United girls basketball for years to come.

Kibler took the time to hop on an interview with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig.  They talk about the work she put in to get to where she is at, the drive to get United back to where they’ve been, and so much more.  Check out the latest United Girls Basketball Player Profile only on YSN.

KIBLER’S CLUTCH SHOTS GIVE UNITED OT WIN

HANOVERTON OH- United is getting better day by day, and Monday they welcomed in a tough Crestview Rebels team to measure where they were at. You didn’t need a measuring stick to quantify the grit, and fight of the Eagles as they walked away with a thrilling 49-48 win in OT.

The game was tightly contested from top to buzzer, and towards the end it seemed like United was going to win in regulation. Crestview’s Krista Perry had other plans though as she hit a shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

In the extra frame with three seconds left, and trailing by one, Madison Kibler went to the free throw line and knocked in two foul shots to give United the lead, and eventually the win.

Kibler led the Eagles with 11 points. Two other players were in double figures as senior Destiny Hill, and Colby Burton both contributed 10.

Krista Perry was her high scoring self, leading the Rebels with a game-high 25.

EAGLES HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH BEAVER LOCAL

HANOVERTON OH- A young United team seems to keep improving as the season goes on and Thursday, they earned their second win of the season. The Eagles dominated Beaver Local from start to finish winning 53-28. The closest the game Hot was a 10-7 United lead in the first, then a 17-0 United run squashed any thoughts of a close game.

QUAKERS BREAK AWAY FROM UNITED

BROOKFIELD HOLDS BACK EAGLES

BROOKFIELD OH- Brookfield Opener the season Monday night with an impressive 53-47 win over United.

United started the game with control. Their slow paced inside focused offense was really controlling a tempo. Freshman Grace Knight scores 5 of her 11 points in the 1st Qtr and helped United close the frame with a 11-7 lead.

However, in the 2nd Qtr, Brookfield would find rythym on offense. Sophia Hook knocked down three 3’s as the Warriors stormed to a 24 point frame and led 31-21 at the break.

United would not be swept away though, they’re zone tightened in on Hook’s jumpsuit and kept her relatively quiet in the third quarter. This helped the Eagles slowly but surely creep back in to the game.

The closest the Eagles would get was three points. Every time they got too close for comfort, Brookfield would come up with a huge shot. United had the ball down just four with about 12 seconds to go in the game and got senior Destiny Hill a good look from the corner. It would not fall though, and two more free throws from Hook would ice the game at 53-47.

Hook led all scorers on the night with 23 points. She 5 three pointers on the night. Audrey Reardon has a solid night as well finishing with 14. Katie Logan was also in double figures with 11.

United was led by Madison Kibler who finished with 15. Knight added 11.

Brookfield moves to 1-0 and they’ll host Heartland on Wednesday. United drops to 0-2 and they will host Salem on Monday.
