DAVIS COMES BACK STRONGER THAN EVER

BOARDMAN OH- It’s never easy to go through a season ending injury. Not only do athletes have to deal with the physical pain that comes with a severe injury, but they also have to jump through mental hurtles to get their bodies back to where they were. Trusting that you can hold up the way you used to can be tricky. For Boardman’s Natalie Davis, all the physical and mental work put in to get back on the field is now paying dividends.

When we talked to Natalie Davis last season, the story was about trying to still find ways to contribute to the team without being able to be on the field.  She learned a lot from last season. You can tell that she took in all she could from the other side of the game.  Her softball IQ has sky rocketed. Talking to Fred Mootz about her though, you’ll quickly realize that she also has come back physically stronger. There’s added velocity to her pitches, and more kick to her swing.  She has persisted through the hurtles and now plays a massive part in the Spartans success.

Davis has thrown 19.2 innings so far this season in the circle splitting time with two other pitchers.  She has struck out 16 batters and only walked 6.  Her ERA currently sits at 2.49. With the bat in her hand she is just as dangerous.  She is hitting .415 which is second on the team.

Davis took the time to chat with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig about her senior season. They talk about the comeback from injury, how it helped her become a leader, and much more. Check out the latest Boardman Softball Player Profile only on YSN!

DAVIS IS NEVER DOWN IN THE DOWNS

BOARDMAN OH- It’s safe to say that Natalie Davis’ junior season at Boardman has not gone as planned. After an injury during basketball season, Davis has been forced to be off the field during this season. Throughout the mental grind that being injured brings, Natalie has never wavered in her positivity.

Davis has taken the opportunity this season to see the game from a whole new angle. Spending more time with the coaches and seeing the game in the big picture, instead of just her own position has dramatically raised her IQ. She has soaked in all she could this year and has been a big help to her teammates. Don’t get it twisted though, Davis is itching to get back on the field. With all the new perspective she has been able to acquire this season, when she does come back you better believe it will be better than ever.

Davis was able to join her fellow juniors on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about navigating her injury this season. She talks with Ty Bartell and Anthony Hartwig about how she’s staying positive, how she still manages to pitch in to the team, and a lot more! This interview will get you inspired.
