CLIPPERS PUT THE CLAMPS ON LORDSTOWN

COLUMBIANA OH- There wasn’t much of a question as to who was the better team between Columbiana and Lordstown on Saturday. The Clippers made quick work of Lordstown in sweeping fashion. (25-6 25-12 25-7)

Tori along got a very unique double double, finishing with 16 aces, and 10 digs. Julia Rapp led the offense with 9 kills, she also collected 3 aces, and a pair of blocks. Cameron Perkins finished with 7 assists, and a pair of kills.

Columbiana will look to stay hot Monday as they host Warren JFK.

CRESTVIEW LIGHTS UP THE SCOREBOARD

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview ran away from Campbell on Friday night to start MVAC play in dominating fashion. The Rebels took the early lead and never looked back to beat the Red Devils 47-7.

Anthony Cusick had a great day through the air going 15-24 for 237 yards and 3 touchdowns. Roclen Bettura seems to get better every week, as he punished the Campbell defense. He ran for 148 yards on 13 carries, and scored 3 touchdowns. He was also Cusick’s favorite target. Buttera caught 5 passes for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Crestview is 2-2 and will travel to Liberty in Week 5. Campbell will look to bounce back as they are scheduled to travel to Brookfield.

HUBBARD HOLDS STRONG AGAINST LORDSTOWN

HUBBARD OH- The Hubbard girls soccer team got a commanding 6-2 victory over Lordstown on Wednesday night to continue their impressive season.

Marysa Chuey earned a hat trick scoring 3 goals for the Eagles. Ashlee Maiorano added a pair of goals to the cause. Kenna Reinard also found the back of the net. Chuey added 2 assists to her strong performance.

Hubbard returns to action Saturday as they travel to Ursuline.

REBELS CONTINUE THEIR DOMINANCE

CAMPBELL OH- Crestview has been a dominant volleyball team all season long, and that did not change in Tuesday’s match with Campbell. The Rebels easily swept away the Red Devils. (25-7 25-7 25-15)

Grace Auer, and Lucy Montgomery both led the balanced Rebels offense with 9 kills apiece. Auer added 11 asssusts, while Montgomery added 7. Abbey Emch continued to impress in her freshman campaign. She totaled 5 kills, and 4 blocks.

Crestview stays inside the MVAC Thursday as they travel to Garfield. Campbell returns to action Wednesday as they travel to East.

EAGLES BREAK OUT THE BROOMS AGAINST LORDSTOWN

LORDSTOWN OH- United made it a positive Saturday morning with a strong sweep over Lordstown. (25-7 25-12 25-9)

Tori Tschappatt served phenomenally for the Eagles. She tallied 13 aces on the night. She also added 5 kills. Madelynn Lucas led the assists category with 7. Taylor scope played good net defense totaling in 2 blocks. Grayson Kidder led the United offense with 7 kills.

United returns to league play on Tuesday as they’ll host Leetonia.

ROCKETS OFFENSE NOT SLOWING DOWN

LOWELLVILLE OH- The Rockets moved to 2-0 on the season with another impressive offensive performance beating Campbell 35-14. The Rockets have scored 85 points in 2 games.

To start the first quarter Vinny Ballone would start off hot with two passing touchdowns to Braylen Dabney and Matthew Lucido to end the first quarter with a 14-0 lead. In the second quarter, it was the same motion of the ocean as Ballone would throw another touchdown pass to Brady Bunofsky to end the half with a 21-0 lead over the Red Devils.

To start the second half the Red Devils would come out the gates scoring two touchdowns as one of them would be a QB keeper as Kayvon Moore would score and cut the lead to 21-14. The Rockets would answer back with two straight touchdowns as well. Vinny Ballone would throw one of the two to Anthony Lucente and rush for one to make the lead 35-14. The Red Devils would add one more score to end the game to make the final score 35-14.

Lowellville (2-0) will play Wellsville next week as Memorial (0-2) will play East Palestine.

VALLEY SOARS TO SEASON OPENING VICTORY

CAMPBELL, OH – In a ‘Battle of the Fields’ at John Knapick Field in Campbell, the Valley Christian Eagles took advantage of Campbell Memorial miscues en route to a 36-6 victory on Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter which included Campbell getting two turnovers on their first two drives, Valley Christian got on the board first as Campbell’s special teams botched a punt and Cam Davenport was there to scoop it up for the touchdown, with the two-point conversion to make it 8-0. The Red Devils, led by senior quarterback and Chaney transfer Kayvon Moore, had a promising drive down the field, but it ended when Moore threw an interception to Tyree Washington to end the half.

The Eagles would then explode in the third quarter as DeSean Lindsey bursted off for a 55-yard touchdown run, making the score 16-0 with the two-point conversion. After a long 52-yard touchdown pass from Joey Batista to make the score 22-0, Campbell was able to make one of their few highlights of the night. Kayvon Moore took the kickoff and broke through lanes on his way to a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown as it was 22-6 with the failed two-point conversion. Valley Chrisitan then scored 13 more points to end the contest.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-0 to start off the year as they will stay here at John Knapick next Friday night to take on a LaBrae team coming off a 40-0 over Lakeview. Eagles coach Andy Hake improves to 104-25 overall as a head coach. The Red Devils drop to 0-1 as Coach King will be looking for his first career victory next week on the road at Lowellville. The Rockets are coming off a 50-27 win over Columbiana.

2021 CAMPBELL FOOTBALL PREVIEW

CAMPBELL OH- The closer the high school football season gets, the more you can feel every fan’s excitement about their team’s season. Television is full of previews of the high school season, but only YSN has a preview of every single team inside their family of schools. Campbell is a team that is full of untapped potential. Last year’s youth has turned into this year’s experience. The Red Devils will use their speed and athleticism to cause havoc on their opponents. IRISH SET THE STAGE FOR SECTIONAL FINAL

STRUTHERS OH-

An early lead helped Ursuline defeat Crestwood 11-1 on Monday. Ursuline scored on a single by Ian Barton and a single by Joey Carosella in the first inning.

The Irish scored four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower  was led by Drew Kirila and Jack Ericson, all driving in runs in the inning.

Tre Ciavarella earned the victory on the hill for Ursuline. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out ten and walking one. Jonah Kirchner threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Jacob Dustman took the loss for Crestwood. The bulldog went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out three.

The Irish saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Carosella, Ciavarella, and Barton each managed multiple hits. Barton, Ciavarella, and Carosella each collected two hits to lead.

IRISH MAKE QUICK WORK OF CAMPBELL

LIBERTY OH-

Ursuline defeated Campbell Memorial 17-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Paige Ogden got a strike out to finish off the game.

Ursuline got things started in the first inning. Maris Barbato hit a solo homer.

Ogden earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Irish. Ogden surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Emily Holland started the game for Ursuline. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking zero

The Irish smacked two home runs on the day. Liza Barbato had a homer in the third inning. Barbato had a long ball in the first inning.

Ursuline racked up 12 hits. Alyssa Sheely, Madelyn Miklandric, Holland, and Barbato all managed multiple hits. Barbato, Holland, Miklandric, and Sheely each collected two hits to lead.
