SIMONS SAYS KEEP ON SETTING IT UP

AUSTINTOWN OH- When talking in the world of high school volleyball, few freshmen are able to step into a role as important as setter and find success so quickly. Looking even deeper at Austintown Fitch specifically, it is even rarer. However, the talent level of Falcon freshmen Rylie Simons is the real deal!

Coming from an athletically gifted family, with both of Rylie’s parents being three sport athletes in highschool, experiencing success as well. Her sister Lainie Simons has the most digs in a career as a Falcon at 919. While her brother Todd Simons holds various records in football and basketball, including all-time leading scorer in Fitch Basketball at 1446 points.

Rylie wasted little time to get her name in the record books, putting up the most assists in a match with 48 in a performance against The Strongsville Lady Mustangs on August 30th, 2021. On top of that, Riley sits at 436 assists in the season which is 129 shy of the record for most in a season. With 9 games left on the schedule and Simons averaging almost 10 assists a set, her odds of being a double record holder in just her first year are great!

From working with her mom at just 5 years old, to imitating the drills she saw her older sister doing at 8, to setting up some of the premier attackers in the area such as Grace Auer and Abbey Emch by playing up two years past Rylie’s level on her club team.  Austintown knows they have a special one, catch the superstar setters EXCLUSIVE interview, as she stopped by to chat with Ty Bartell in this edition of Player Profile, only on YSN!
