GIRLS BASKETBALL ALL-OHIO ANNOUNCED FOR DIVISIONS III & IV

COLUMBUS OH- The state of Ohio has concluded its basketball seasons with successful state tournaments at the University of Dayton. With the state champions crowned, the only thing left to do is to recognize the best players in the state with the All-Ohio list. The YSN is well represented on the first list released by Columbus. The girls come first, and the teams for Division III and IV are out.

HEADED HOME: SEBRING TROJANS BASEBALL PREVIEW

SEBRING, OH – The weather is turning from winter to spring, the fields are getting ready for games, and first year head coach Tyler Whitlatch and the Sebring Trojans are ready to get back on the diamond and play some baseball!

Coach Whitlatch will look to his five seniors for leadership and experience as the rest of the team is very young underclassmen. Coach is looking for Dylan Johnson and Frankie Lozoya to be a 1-2 punch for the Trojans. Coach Whitlatch also discussed how his style of coaching is similar to a college system that he is building based on his time playing for Malone. Not only does Coach Whitlatch want to succeed, he knows that starting with the fundamentals and building a program based on that is key to long term success.

HEADED HOME: SEBRING LADY TROJANS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

SEBRING, OH – The Sebring Lady Trojans are led by head coach Jason Whaley and the excitement is through the roof as the Lady Trojans are returning nine members from last year’s team! Coach Whaley will lean heavily on the experience of his team, as well as, Emma Whaley who will be the ace in the circle this year. Coach Whaley has high expectations for the Lady Trojans and as the weather begins to break, the girls are chomping at the bit get on the diamond and make some noise in the MVAC! Coach Whaley also looks to have a successful year in hopes that the team success will lead to more of the Trojans youth to take interest in playing softball and continue to grow the program for long term success!

SEBRING BECOMES UPSET CITY AS TROJANS STUN SPRINGFIELD

SEBRING OH/ The impossible became possible Saturday night in Sebring as the Trojans upset the Springfield Tigers 61-60 in boys hoops action. Matt Byrd drained a 3 pointer as the clock hit 0.00 to pull off this stunning victory. The Trojans were down 7 points in  the final quarter  but outscored the Tigers 17-12 to pull the contest out.

Byrd ended the game with 23 points for Sebring followed by Frankie Lozoya netting 19 points.

Springfield’s Adam Wharry scored 16 points with Beau Brungard scoring 13.

The Trojans finished off the regular season with a 6-16 record and will   face the winner of the Western Reserve- Jackson Milton next Friday nightin Division IV tournament play. Springfield  finishes the season slate with a 15-4 record and will start Division III action as they will host the winner of the Cardinal-Campbell also next Friday.

RAMS SMASH THROUGH SEBRING

SEBRING OH- The Mineral Ridge Rams out-scored the host Sebring Trojans in each quarter to take a home 58-48 victory.

The Rams balanced scoring attack was paced by Zach Jameswith 12 points.

Sebring received  15 points from Frankie Lozoya  and his teammates Dylan Johnson and Connor Shepherd each had 13 points.  The win improves Mineral Ridge to 8-10 while the Trojans drop to 5-15.

BLUE DEVILS REMAIN UNBEATEN

SEBRING OH- The Mcdonald Blue Devils showed everyone why they are the #5 ranked team in Ohio with a 79-53 victory over the visiting Sebring Trojans Tuesday.

9 Blue Devil players reached the scoring book with 6 Devils scoring in double-digits. A Lot of scoring from beyond the arc with Sebring netting 9 3-pointers and the Blue Devils canning 11 threes.

Miles Culp was the scoring leader for McDonald with 16 points.Frankie Lozoya paced Sebring with a game high 18 points. The win improves McDonald to a perfect 18-0 and 12-0 in the MVAC and will travel to Springfield to take on the 11-3 and 8-1 in league play Tigers in what should be a WAR.

The Blue Devils beat the Tigers back in early January with a buzzer-beater 3 from Culp to win 65-62. The Trojans drop to 5-14 and will host Mineral Ridge on Friday.

BLUE DEVILS DEMOLISH SEBRING

The McDonald  Blue Devils girls hoops team had little trouble in defeating the Sebring Trojans 77-19 in action on Monday night.

Nine Blue Devil players reached the scoring column with Molly Howard canning 19 points followed by Sophia Costantino with 16, Lucia Wolford hitting for 15 points and Maddy Howard scoring 12 points.

Sebring’s Cazhia Jackson led her team with 9 points. The victory moves McDonald to 12-2 while Sebring drops to 4-12 on the campaign.

RIDGE GRABS FIRST VICTORY

SEBRING OH- It’s been a struggle this season for a young Mineral Ridge team in a tough MVAC. They have taken their lumps for sure. On Thursday though, they got proof that their hours in the gym were paying off. The Rams picked their first win of the season with a 49-33 domination of Sebring.

Courtney Boyer paced the way for Ridge with 13 points on the night. Candice Miller collected 9 points, all of which came from behind the arc.

Devyn Reggi scored a game high 17 points for Sebring to lead the way.

Mineral Ridge will return home with their win, and host Lowellville on Saturday. Sebring is slated to stay at home and host Springfield next Thursday.

BEARS DON’T MISS A BEAT AGAINST SEBRING

LEETONIA OH- Taran Ferry had a big night for the Leetonia Bears as they dropped the Sebring Trojans 55-41 in hardwood action Wednesday night.

Ferry put up a double double with 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to help the Bears to improve to 11-6. Ella Gregorino scored 12 points. The Bears took a 14-8 1st quarter lead and never looked back.

Sebring was paced by a 15 point effort from Emma Whaley.

LATE SURGE LIFTS SEBRING

EAST CANTON OH- Sebring made their long trip to Canton worth it on Friday night as they used a late fourth quarter surge to push ahead of East Canton 49-46. The Trojans won the fourth frame 20-11. 

Dylan Johnson led the way for the Trojans scoring 18 points on 6 three pointers. Matt Byrd and Frankie Lozoya each contributed 9 points to the Trojan offense.

Sebring will host Springfield next Friday. It will be a girls and boys double header and also be the homecoming celebration for the Trojans.
