LATE SURGE LIFTS LADY BULLDOGS PAST RAIDERS

Poland stole the lead late in the game in an 8-2 victory over South Range on Tuesday.  The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 in the top of the sixth inning when Ally Nittoli doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.

Poland secured the victory thanks to five runs in the sixth inning.  The rally was led by doubles by Nittoli, Lauren Sienkiewicz, and Jackie Grisdale.

The Bulldogs got things started in the first inning when Nittoli doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Ashley Wire got the win for Poland. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out five.

Bree Kohler took the loss for South Range. She surrendered eight runs on ten hits over seven innings, striking out ten.

The Bulldogs scattered ten hits in the game.  Brooke Bobbey, Nittoli, and Wire each racked up multiple hits for Poland.  Wire, Nittoli, and Bobbey each managed two hits to lead Poland Seminary Bulldogs Varsity.

South Range had eight hits in the game.  Julie Centefonti and Hannah Dennison all managed multiple hits for the Raiders.  South Range was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Kali Dudich made the most plays with  ten.

LADY PIRATES NAB WIN FROM GIRARD

COLUMBIANA, OH- The Girard Lady Indians lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat to Southeast on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Southeast batting in the bottom of the sixth when the Lady Pirates singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.  A frustrating loss for Girard as they out-hit Southeast ten to eight.

In the first inning, Girard got their offense started when Tori Owens singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.  Kaitlyn Culver started the game for Girard Indians Varsity. She allowed eight hits and six runs over six innings, striking out two.

Girard racked up ten hits on the day. CulverSahan Dede, and Owens each collected multiple hits for the Lady Tribe. OwensDede, and Culver each collected two hits to lead Girard .

LADY REBS REMAIN PERFECT BEHIND DEFENSIVE EXCELLENCE.

LINSLY, WV- The Crestview Lady Rebels traveled across the state boundaries to play its first OVAC league game of the year. The game was scoreless thru regulation, a defensive battle for both teams.

It wasn’t until the top of the 8th when McKenna Schultz worked a walk, then with one out the Rebels got back to the top of the order when Haley Eskra hit a line drive single to center field, followed by an Olivia Strank single to the shortstop. With the bases loaded Skyler Mattern hit a fly ball to the 3rd for the second out. The next batter Karsyn Moore drew a walk for the first run, followed by yesterday’s hero Kaedyn Sutton ripping a double to left center field to score Eskra & Strank.  Offensively, Olivia Strank led the Rebels with two singles. Kaedyn Sutton picked up the win.

For Linsly Recrosio and Heller each had 2 hits. Smith took the loss. Crestview improves to 4-0 on the season.

Crestview will be hosting a triple header tomorrow with Southeast Ravenna & Girard. Crestview vs Southeast will kick off the day at 11:00 am. This triple headers proceeds will be donated to The 4C’s Food Pantry (Crestview Churches Community Concerns)

The games are set to be broadcast on YSN (subject to weather.)

SUTTON TIES SCHOOL RECORD, LADY REBS ROLL PAST LEOPARDS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Crestview scored 8 runs in the 2nd & 3rd innings to jump out to a 16-0 lead in a game that finished 18-0.  The Rebel bats were on fire Thursday as Kaedyn Sutton led the Lady Rebels with 2 singles, 2 doubles and a triple and 3 RBI’s. Olivia Strank had 2 doubles and 4 RBI’s. Karsyn Moore 2 doubles, Baylie Bettura, Kayla Deily and Skyler Mattern each added 2 hits.

For Liberty Lara, McBride, Bardol, and Jones each added a hit. Kaedyn Sutton added to her tremendous outing and earned the win in the circle for Crestview. Leigha Anderson came in the 3rd inning pitching the 3rd & the 4th inning, Haley Eskra came in the 5th inning to close the game.  Sutton tied a school record with her 5 hits in a single game. Crestview improves to 3-0 and will travel to Linsly in Wheeling WV on Friday.

LADY RAIDERS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AGAINST HOWLAND

CANFIELD OH- South Range Raiders effort to come back from down five runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 13-11 to Howland on Thursday.  The Raiders scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Drew Feren, a triple by Bree Kohler, and a sacrifice fly by Hanna Dennison.

The Raiders were right in it until Howland singled in the sixth inning.

The Raiders got on the board in the first inning.  Bree Kohler drove in one when she singled.

Howland evened things up at seven in the top of the fifth inning when Alexis Rodgers singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Raiders notched six runs in the second inning.  Raiders big bats in the inning were led by singles by Marlaina Slabach and Drew Feren, a triple by Bree Kohler, and a sacrifice fly by Hanna Dennison.

Madison Osborne led the Howland to victory on the rubber. She went seven innings, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits, striking out three and walking one.

Reagan Irons took the loss for the Raiders. She allowed seven hits and ten runs, 6 earned over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

South Range racked up 13 hits.  Marlaina Slabach, Drew Feren, Bree Kohler, and Jillian Strecansky each managed multiple hits for South Range Raiders.  Bree Kohler, Drew Feren, and Marlaina Slabach each collected three hits to lead the Raiders.  South Range tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Bree Kohler led the way with three.

Howland collected 12 hits.  Emily Darlington, Marissa Jerina, Alexis Rodgers, and Marissa Miller each  had multiple hits for Howland.  Emily Darlington went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Howland in hits.

VRABLE LIGHTS THE FIRE FOR LADY DEVILS AGAINST UNITED

HANOVERTON, OH- Justyce Vrable came to the ballpark and meant business on Wednesday, tallying five hits and leading Lisbon to a 28-2 win over United. Vrable singled in the first, singled in the fourth, homered in the fifth, and tripled in the fifth.  Leaving her just a double away from the cycle.

The Lady Devils fired up the offense in the first inning, when Mya Emmerlingsingled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.  Fast forward to the fifth inning where Lisbon’s offense exploded for 14 runs in the inning coming from doubles by Kenedy VrableEmma Thompson, and Autumn Oehlstrom, singles by Emmerling and Vrable, a triple by Vrable, a home run by Vrable, a fielder’s choice by Anna Marshalek, and an error on a ball put in play by McKenna Dailey.

Thompson earned the win for Lisbon. She lasted five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking zero.

Warner took the loss for United. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing 21 hits and 26 runs while striking out one.

Lisbon tallied 24 hits in the game. VrableVrableEmmerlingOehlstromDaileyTaylor Deland, and Kaity Clark each managed multiple hits for LisbonVrable went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead Lisbon in hits. The Devils also stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Vrable led the way with two.

LADY REBS LOCKDOWN LEOPARDS

COLUMBIANA, OH- Crestview Senior Haley Eskra started the bottom of the 1st off with a triple to centerfield then scored on a passed ball. The Rebels scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Then in the fourth inning, the Lady Rebels scored 5 runs off 4 hits. Kaedyn Sutton led the Rebels with 2 singles, a double and 3 RBI’s, McKenna Schultz and Skyler Mattern each added 2 singles. Kaedyn Sutton also had her first start as a freshman pitching 5 innings, giving up 3 hits striking out 8 and no walks.

For Liberty Attaya Rhodes, Melanie Bardot and Savanna Hook each had a hit. Attaya Rhodes took the loss.

Crestview improved to 2-0 on the season and will travel to Liberty Thursday. 

LADY CLIPS ICE BLUE DEVILS

COLUMBIANA, OH-  The Columbiana Clippers defeated the Western Reserve Blue Devils in softball action here Tuesday night 7-5 in a game that featured a few momentum swings, the last favoring the home team.  The Clippers scored in each of the first two innings to take a 3-0 lead into the third. The Blue Devils rallied to tie it in the third and took the lead 5-3 in the fifth. They maintained a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but with none on and two out, the Clippers exploded for 4 runs.  Tori Long retired the side in order in the seventh for the complete game victory.

Losing pitcher, Layla Woolf, settled in after the shaky first two innings and appeared to have the game in hand with two outs in the sixth.  However, Clipper sophomore Madison Moser battled Woolf fouling off several offerings before singling sharply to right. That turned the lineup over to the top where Maci Linhart resides.  Linhart scorched a base hit to left for her third hit of the game. Then, Alyssa Tohm delivered the big blow. A two-run triple to give the Clippers the lead. Tohm scored the final run on a wild pitch.

Welsch led the Blue Devils offensively.  Woolf, Donithan, and Heater had timely hits as well.  Long helped her own cause with two hits for the Clippers (2-0).

HUBBARD SOFTBALL CALMS LADY DRAGONS

NILES, OH-  The Hubbard Lady Eagles Varsity easily did away with Niles McKinley 19-3 on Tuesday evening.  Hubbard got things moving early in the first inning.  Sydney Bowser singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.

Jackie Adler was the winning pitcher for the Lady Eagles. She allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out nine. Bonneau was in the circle for McKinley. She allowed six hits and nine runs over one inning. Libert tossed four innings out in relief.  Hubbard racked up 16 hits on the day. Kellsie LeshnakAdlerBowserEmily Filicky, and Grace Narkum all had multiple hits for the Lady EaglesAdler and Leshnak all had three hits to lead Hubbard.  Melius went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead McKinley in hits.

KOHLER SPARKS SOUTH RANGE OVER LAKEVIEW

CANFIELD, OH- South Range Sophomore, Bree Kohler, was bad news for opposing pitchers on Monday, driving in five on one hits to lead the South Range Raiders past Lakeview 10-2 in their first game of the year.  Kohler drove in runs on a home run in the first, a fielder’s choice in the second, as well as in the fourth.

South Range opened up scoring in the first inning, when Bree Kohler homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs.  The Raiders scored three runs in the fourth inning as well. The offensive firepower by South Range was led by Drew FerenKohler, and Hanna Dennison, all driving in runs in the inning.

The headaches didn’t end there for Lakeview, as Kohler also pitched the burgundy and gold to victory. She allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking none.

For Lakeview, Cair Kelm took the loss. She surrendered ten runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out three.

Senior, Marlaina Slabach went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead South Range Raiders in hits.
