WEST BRANCH SHARPENS THEIR TOOLS BEFORE BIG REMATCH

BELOIT OH- It was a midweek non conference match up for West Branch on Wednesday, that could have come at a perfect time. The Warriors put together one of their most complete games of the season, beating a good Mooney team 69-31. This win comes right on the heels of an important rematch with Salem on Saturday.

The Warriors had an extremely balanced offense. Eight different players found themselves in the scorebook. They were paced by Anna Lippiatt who put in a monster 21 points. Sophie Gregory was also in double figures with 16. Hannah Egli contributed 7, while Livvie Showalter added 6.

Maria Fire was the leading scorer for the Cardinals finishing with 10. Alaina Scavina chipped in 8 points, while Olivia Rouser came out with 7.

West Branch looks ahead to a road trip to Salem on Saturday. The Quakers own the only league loss of the season for the Warriors who currently sit tied for first place in the EBC with Marlington. Mooney’s road doesn’t get any easier. They’ll match up with Akron St Vincent St Mary on Saturday.

WARRIORS CHOP DOWN CHIPPEWA

DOYLESTOWN OH- West Branch faced another strong test this weekend as the Warriors continue to sharpen their teeth. This time around West Branch made the trip to Doylestown to take on the division 3 regional power Chippewa Chipps. It was a battle all the way, but the Warriors were ready. They held of the Chipps 44-39.

 

The Warriors were led by senior Sydney Mercer who dropped 17 points on the day. Anna Lippiatt and Livvie Showalter were both in double figures as well with 10 points a piece. Sophie Gregory added 7.

The Warriors are now 13-3 and will get back at it Wednesday as they host Mooney.

 

WARRIORS ALTER ALLIANCE’S UPSET PLANS

BELOIT OH- The Alliance Aviators are a different team this season, much improved from years past. They already have more wins this year than the last three seasons combined. They came into Saturday primed for a program defining win. This day however belonged to West Branch. They used their suffocating defense to run away with the game 66-28.

The Warriors had four different players reach in double figures. Sophie Gregory led the way for them with 13. Sydney Mercer was right behind her with 12. Mikayla Fitts had a solid day at the office with 11 points, and finally Anna Lippiatt contributed 10.

West Branch hits the floor again on Wednesday as they travel to Carrollton.

WARRIORS KEEP THEIR UNBEATEN RECORD INTACT

CANTON OH-

CANTON, OH – It was a big league matchup in the Eastern Buckeye Conference on Tuesday night as the Canton South Wildcats hosted the West Branch Warriors. The Warriors came into this game undefeated and looking to shut down the Wildcats, and they were successful with a key scoring and great defensive play to earn a 40-31 victory.

 

For West Branch, Jaxon Hendershott led the way with 10 points on the night. Behind him was Dru DeSheilds who contributed 8, and Joey Jackson who added 6 on the night for the Warriors.  

 

For Canton South, Brady Noll led the team with 9 points. Akil Martin, Poochie Snyder, and Tanner Pierce all added 4 on the night for the Wildcats.

 

West Branch will be back in action on Friday, as they are set to host Minerva. Canton South will also be back in action on Friday, traveling to Marlington to take on the Dukes. Don’t miss it on YSN!

WEST BRANCH GOES INTO NEW YEAR UNBEATEN

BELOIT OH- West Branch had one more test awaiting them in 2021 as they welcomed Ravenna into their gym on Tuesday. Dru DeShields and Jaxon Hendershott combined for 36 points as the Warriors took care of the Ravens 64-45.

DeShields put on a show with 26 points on the night. Hendershott was also in double figures with 10 points. Nick Wilson contributed a solid 9 points to the Warriors cause as well. Thomas Egli added 8 points.

The Warriors now look ahead to 2022 as they return to league play Tuesday with a trip to Canton South.

WARRIORS SEND MINERVA PACKING

BELOIT OH- West Branch was not the kindest of hosts to EBC rival Minerva on Wednesday night. The Warriors were able to roll over the Lions, and send them on their way. West Branch won by a final score of 56-20.

It was a balanced Warrior attack that paved the way to victory. Four Warriors found themselves in double figures. Hannah Egli led the way with 12 points. Anna Lippiatt chipped in with 11 points. Both Livvie Showalter, and Sophie Gregory were also in double figures with 10 points.

West Branch will travel to New Philadelphia on Wednesday December 29th.

WARRIORS MAKE WISHES COME TRUE

CANTON OH- West Branch traveled to GlenOak on Monday to take part in the wonderful Wishes can Happen Basketball event where some of northeast Ohio’s most talented girls basketball teams came together. The Warriors were matched up with West Geauga, a team that lost a thrilling overtime district semifinal game at Poland last season. For the Warriors, it wasn’t much of a match. They controlled the game from the tip to win 59-30.

After a couple of tough games, Sophie Gregory got back on track leading the Warriors with 18 points on the night. Sydney Mercer was also in double figures with 12 points. Anna Lippiatt added an important 7 points to the cause.

West Branch moves on to play Minerva at home on Wednesday to continue EBC play.

SALEM DEFENSE COMES THROUGH AGAIN

BELOIT OH- It should be no surprise that Salem found themselves in another defensive struggle on Wednesday night. In what might be the biggest rivalry in the area, the Quakers traveled to West Branch and brought their intense ball pressure with them. For the fifth time this season the Quakers held their opponent under 30 points. It was just enough too as the Quakers won 30-29.

After getting shut out in the third quarter, Salem outscored the Warriors 15-10 in the final frame. It was the most productive quarter for both teams. Abbie Davidson hit a layup with the clock ticking away, then West Branch had a chance at the game winning shot, but it wouldn’t fall.

Davidson led the Quakers with 10 points on the night. Rylee Hutton would add 6 points to the Quakers offense. Salem did not attempt a single free throw on the night, West Branch only attempted 3.

West Branch was led by Cami Campbell who finished with 7 points. Mikayla Fitts added 6, while Sydney Mercer, and Anna Lippiatt had 5 a piece.

Salem returns to action Saturday as they host United. West Branch will hit the road to Canton South on Saturday.

WARRIORS HOLD STRONG TO GIVE POLAND THEIR FIRST LOSS

POLAND OH- West Branch controlled the first three quarters of the game Saturday but had to hold on as Poland made a fierce comeback bid. What was a thirteen point lead quickly shrunk to as low as three. The Warriors made enough plays to hold on to a 46-42 win. The Poland girls team came into the day as the only team in the United Way Classic’s 10 year history to be undefeated in the event’s games. They are now 9-1 in 10 seasons competing in the Classic.

Anna Lippiatt led the Warriors with 13 points on the night. Hannah Egli hit some big shots from behind the arc on her way to a 9 point night. Sophie Gregory, and Livvie Showalter both added 8.

Poland was paced by Connie Cougras with 11 points. Morgan Kluchar had a solid night in double figures with 10 points. Katie McDonald chipped in with 6 points.

A big matchup awaits for both teams as West Branch will lock horns with Salem on Wednesday, while Poland travels to South Range on Monday.

WARRIORS TAKE CARE OF FIRST EBC WIN

BELOIT OH- Jaxon Hendershott scored 22 points and Dru DeShields added 20 points as the West Branch Warriors dropped the visiting Carrollton Warriors 63-47 in Friday’s hoop action.

West Branch found the bottom of the net from outside the 3 point arc 5 times.

The Warriors will return to action Tuesday with a home contest with Youngstown East.
