TICE LIFTS LIVERPOOL TO WEEKEND WIN

Evan Tice collected three hits in three at bats, as East Liverpool Potters defeated Weir High Varsity 15-6 on Saturday at Weir. Tice doubled in the first inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

East Liverpool Potters won thanks in part to eight runs in the fifth inning. Malachi Reed singled, scoring one run, Elliot Fitch singled, scoring one run, Kasen Ramsey drew a walk, scoring one run, Jake Smith was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Trent Davis singled, scoring three runs, and Tice singled, scoring one run. They got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ramsey hit into a fielder’s choice, Tice doubled, Anderson Fitch singled, and Reed doubled, each scoring one run. The Potters added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Smith singled, and Tice doubled, each scoring one run.

Suznevich earned the win for East Liverpool. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and six runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none.

The Potters collected 17 hits in the game. Tice and Suznevich each collected three hits. Davis, Reed, Fitch, and Nate Birch each collected multiple hits.

Leadoff hitter Cayden Braswell led Weir with two hits in three at bats. Zion Spencer, Teddy Glyptis, Braswell, and Damir Mowder each drove in one run.
