WARRIORS ABLE TO AVENGE EARLY SEASON LOSS TO RIVAL

East Palestine, OH- The Edgewood Warriors ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-3 victory over rival Lakeside Dragons on Wednesday.  The game was tied at two with Edgewood batting in the top of the fifth when Zane Naylor singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Lakeside opened up scoring in the first inning.  Lakeside scored one run when Matt Wagner singled. The Warriors evened things up at two in the top of the third inning with Logan Kray grounded out, scoring one run.

Naylor was the winning pitcher for Edgewood, after the right hander surrendered three runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out nine. Junior lefty Alex DiSalvatore took the loss for Lakeside. The Dragon lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out five. Edgewood tallied ten hits in the game.  Aidan Hernandez and Kray all managed multiple hits for Edgewood.  Hernandez went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Edgewood Warriors in hits. Lakeside’s Dylan Newsome led the Dragons with two hits in three at bats. The 2023 baseball battle for the bridge ends with each team taking a win on their rival’s home field. Both teams will start their OHSAA tournament journey next week with Lakeside travelling to Twinsburg and Edgewood playing host the Howland.
