WARRIORS GOING STRAIGHT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

HARMONY PA- Mohawk came out on top against Avonworth with a solid 5-3 win in the WPIAL semifinal Tuesday.

The action started in the third inning when Mohawk’s Addy Moskal cracked a double and Maya McGreal followed with a single, each driving in a run to put Mohawk on the board. The game stayed tight until the sixth inning when the Warriors really turned up the heat.

In that decisive sixth inning, GiGi Cowher smacked a two-run double to break the tie, and Aricka Young kept the momentum going with another double to stretch the lead to 5-2. These timely hits were crucial in swinging the game Mohawk’s way.

On the mound, Reagan Magno pitched a complete game for Mohawk, allowing 10 hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking one. Her ability to pitch through pressure kept the Warriors in control throughout the game.

Mohawk’s bats were hot, tallying 10 hits. Cowher delivered from the eight spot, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Young led the hit parade, going 3-for-4, while Moskal added two hits of her own. Gianna Pezzuolo was a master at drawing walks, picking up three to lead the team, contributing to a total of six walks that showcased Mohawk’s patience at the plate.

Defensively, the Warriors were flawless, not committing a single error. McGreal was a standout, involved in six plays, anchoring a solid defensive effort that kept Avonworth at bay.

With this victory, the Warriors advance confidently into the WPIAL 3A Championship.
