HAMLEY SHINES AS AUSTINTOWN CLINCHES STATE TITLE

IRONTON OH- Mila Hamley was dominant in the circle on Wednesday morning, as she rang up 11 strikeouts in Austintown’s 7-0 victory over Clay in the state championship. Hamley gave up two hits and zero runs over six innings while walking none.

Austintown scored six runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Lexi Petrilla singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, an error scored another run, Annabel Mikesell singled, scoring one run, and Bella Baumgart doubled, scoring one run.

Tori Greathouse made the most of her chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with two hits in two at bats. Petrilla went 1-for-2 at the plate as the left-handed hitter led the team with two runs batted in. Austintown was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Baumgart had the most chances in the field with 11.

Austintown has now qualified for the regional tournament. If they win in regionals they will move on to the Little League World Series.
