A STONE COLD MASON MAKES MARLINGTON GREAT

CANFIELD OH- In day number two of the fifth annual South Range Holiday Hoops Classic, The Marlington Dukes returned to faceoff with a new foe. After emerging victorious in a blowout win against Austintown-Fitch on Wednesday, The Dukes would play as the home team in a matchup with The Chardon Hilltoppers. In what would be the first and only home for The Hilltoppers in The Holiday Hoops Classic.

Chardon came in with a 3-4 record, looking to complete an upset win over a 6-1 Marlington team. Well Elizabeth Mason had different plans, scoring 16 of her team’s 18 points in the first quarter, Mason would continue her dominance, finishing with 23 points after the first half! Chardon was playing a good brand of defense that was forcing turnovers; however, Marlington was able to match that energy and counter their turnover by creating some of their own against The Hilltoppers.

Marlington wasted no time in the second half, continuing their run of dominance to get the running clock by the start of the fourth quarter. Elizabeth Mason finished with 32 points in her Player of The Game Performance, as The Dukes emerged victorious in both of their games at South Range. The loss will send The Hilltoppers to 3-5 on their season, while Marlington improves to 7-1 through their first eight contests.

Both The Hilltopers and The Dukes will return to action in January to start off The New Year. The Dukes will host The Carrollton Warriors on Wednesday, January 4th. On the other side, The Hilltoppers will try their luck with  Cornerstone Christian, where they will hit the road to do battle with The Patriots on Monday, January 2nd.
