BEAVER LOCAL VETERAN PRESENCE PREVAILS

EAST PALESTINE, OH- East Palestine came as close as they’ve been all season to earning their first victory, but it was the cagey veterans of Beaver Local that stayed calm and collected down the stretch to hold tight to a 47-40 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Beaver Local was lights out in the first quarter, lighting up the scoreboard as if it were a Christmas tree to the tune of 20 points.  The problem became that in the second frame- The Lady Beavers couldn’t crack the code on East Palestine once, and the teams went into the break tied 20-20.

East Palestine would outscore Beaver in the third quarter 11-9 led by hoops magician, Mia Lee.  Lee was putting in layups during this contest that would make Steph Curry blush.

However, the tale would turn in the final stanza under the watchful eyes of Olivia Keller and Chansyn Hoppel who, when the pushes came to shoves, would not let their team falter.  Keller knocked down key shots from beyond the arc in the final quarter, while Hoppel utilized her blazing speed to keep East Palestine just a step behind the rest of the way.

Jordan Palmer would lead all Beaver Local scorers with 18, as she continued to show incredible leadership and poise throughout the contest.  Keller and Halle Jordan completed their task with 8 points apiece, while Chansyn Hoppel closed out her register with 6 points.

For East Palestine, Lee had a career-high 24 points as she dazzled in the contest.  Patience Champney once again shined with double digits in points with 10 and had more swats defensively than a front porch in Louisiana in mosquito season.
