BLUE JAYS BIND UP SPRINGFIELD

Jackson-Milton stole the lead late and defeated Springfield 7-5 on Monday. The game was tied at five with Jackson-Milton batting in the bottom of the sixth when Riley Headley put the Jays on the board first.

Jackson-Milton earned the victory despite allowing Springfield to score three runs in the second inning. Springfield’s big inning was driven by a single by Harley Shoemaker and an error on a ball put in play by Gabbi Nolevonko.

Jackson-Milton opened up scoring in the first inning. They scored one run when Headley tripled.

The Tigers evened things up at five in the top of the fifth inning when Hannah Leipply grounded out, scoring one run.

Headley led things off on the rubber for the Blue Jays. The righthander allowed six hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Haleigh McCalla led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Springfield. The hurler surrendered seven runs on five hits over six innings, striking out 16.

Chelsea Williams led Jackson-Milton with three hits in three at bats.

Abby Joseph went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.
