CANFIELD GETS THE BETTER OF THE BULLDOGS

POLAND, OH- The Canfield Cardinals toppled Poland Seminary 8-5 on Monday, kicking off the scoring spree right out of the gate.

The action started with Dylan Mancini, who cracked a double that sent three runners home, giving Canfield an early lead. Michael Patellis was on fire from the mound, locking down the win with a solid six innings where he allowed just two hits and four unearned runs while fanning nine.

On the flip side, Dilullo struggled a bit for Poland Seminary, lasting only four innings and giving up three runs. Zain Jadallah stepped in to close the game and snagged the save for Canfield.

When it wasn’t Patellis silencing bats, Canfield’s lineup was lighting up. The team racked up nine hits with Enzo Cocca and Patellis each bagging two. David Murphy and Mancini proved a dynamic duo, each contributing two RBIs. Tanner Stricko worked the count effectively, drawing two walks and nabbing a couple of bases, contributing to the team’s total of five stolen bases.

Poland Seminary had its moments too, with Tukalo picking up two hits. The lineup saw Hayes, Thompson, Dilullo, and Zuccaro each knocking in a run, but it just wasn’t enough to keep pace.

Next, the Canfield Cardinals are set to face off against McDonald on Wednesday, aiming to keep their momentum going.  Meanwhile the 15-4 Bulldogs will return home to take on Springfield.
