AUSTINTOWN FITCH FALCONS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 3) WITH TJ PARKER

AUSTINTOWN, OH – The Austintown Fitch Falcons are rolling into Week 9 of the 2022 season off arguably one of the best game in the state of Ohio last week, defeating Wadsworth 42-35 in a four-overtime thriller. The Falcons faced a lot of adversity throughout the game, including having to block a Wadsworth field goal in the second overtime to keep the game alive after a Fitch interception to begin the period.

This week’s opponent is a very familiar one for Austintown, as they will host the Boardman Spartans on Friday night. This will mark the 76th meeting between the two schools, with Fitch leading the all-time series 42-32-1. Boardman comes into the matchup with a record of 4-4, desperately needing a big win this week to keep their playoff hopes alive.

URSULINE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER: (EP. 8) WITH DAN REARDON

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- The Ursuline Irish march into Week 9 of the 2022 regular season after a
dominating 40-0 victory over Villa-Angela St. Joseph, a win that will pay huge dividends for the Irish in
the Region 9 computer ratings. The onslaught began when the Irish stopped VASJ at the one-yard line of
Ursuline, followed by sophomore quarterback DC Ferrell taking it 99 yards by himself to put the Irish up
7-0. Ferrell rushed for 235 yards on only nine carries, as Ursuline used a strong six-touchdown
performance in the first half to cruise to victory.

The road doesn’t get any easier though for the Irish as
they welcome Steel-Valley Conference opponent Youngstown East to Stambaugh Stadium on Friday
night for a showdown with the Golden Bears, which is always a tough match up.

URSULINE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER: WITH CLINTON LYNCH

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- There are a lot of good coaches in the Mahoning Valley who have great
backgrounds, but it is very hard to say that many have had better career pasts than Clinton Lynch, Lynch,
a former standout at Ursuline, went on to play his college ball at the University of Illinois in the Big Ten,
where he spent four years with the Fighting Illini. While in Champaign, Lynch ran for 557 yards while
also totaling 212 receiving yards. Clinton has since returned to his alma mater to help with the football
program, where he coaches the running backs. Lynch has the cool opportunity of coaching his son
Christian, who is a junior standout on this year’s squad.

URSULINE IRISH VOLLEYBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH NATHAN ZUNIC

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – It has been a very successful regular season so far for the Ursuline Irish Volleyball team, and with very few matches remaining in the regular season, the Irish will soon turn to a bigger picture of success, the playoffs. The Irish currently boast a 13-6 record through their first 19 matches of the season, and they seem to be hitting their stride at the right time, winning four out of their last five matches. Tomorrow night will be a very big match, as the Irish will travel to take on Cardinal Mooney in the Holy War. The Cardinals downed the Irish 3-1 earlier on in the season, so redemption is definitely on the minds of the Irish coming into tomorrow night’s battle.

SALEM FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 5) WITH RON JOHNSON

SALEM OH- The Quakers are coming off a big bounce back victory in Week 7 as they beat Minerva 48-13.  The Quakers are 5-2 on the season but have some big EBC tests coming up on their slate . This week, Salem hosts the Warriors of Carrollton who also sport a 5-2 record.

YSN’s Jarrod Niederhiser got a chance to catch up with Salem head coach Ron Johnson for another edition of Salem Football Coach’s Corner. Hear all coach had to say about the week that was, and what is coming up for the Quakers.

CANFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER: MIKE PAVLANSKY

CANFIELD, OH- The Canfield Cardinals are 5-1 and a top 5 team in division three, region nine. The Cards had there first bye week of the season after shocking Dover in overtime by a final of 20-14. BOARDMAN GIRLS GOLF COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH LEE CHRISTMAN

BOARDMAN OH- The Spartans have punched their ticket to districts. After an impressive showing and sectionals held at Old Avalon, the Spartans will test their skills at the next level. They won the fourth place spot over Stow Monroe Falls by one stroke. They also were just one stroke behind Solon at third place. The biggest win though for this Spartans team was beating out Canfield to get their place in districts. The Cardinals have been a thorn in Boardman’s side all year, and when it mattered most the Spartans pulled through. Boardman will compete in the district meet on October 13th at Brookledge Country Club in Cuyahoga Falls.

Boardman head coach Lee Christman was able to hop on YSN’s Running Point to talk about her team’s awesome performance.  She chatted with Richie Juliano and Anthony Hartwig about what it took to get the team to qualify, what her captains have brought to the table, and much more. AUSTINTOWN FITCH FALCONS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 2) WITH TJ PARKER

AUSTINTOWN, OH – The Austintown Fitch Falcons got back on track in Week 7, avenging their first loss of the season the week prior with a strong 35-3 victory against Strongsville, advancing to 6-1 on the season. The Falcons came out very strong in the second half, outscoring the Mustangs 21-0. The road does not get any easier though for the Falcons in Week 8, as they will be on the road for the third consecutive week and will pay visit to the 5-2 Wadsworth Grizzlies. This will be the second straight week that Fitch will have a showdown with a Division 1 opponent. Wadsworth, who’s currently sitting in third place in Division 1 Region 1, have suffered losses to two very respectable programs in 6-1 Medina, and 7-0 Hudson.

LOUISVILLE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH TROY DAVIS

LOUISVILLE OH- Ring that bell! Louisville has battled through some serious adversity as a football program the last few years. Their work ethic however has never been called into question. On Friday night the Leopards got a massive win at home against Green to show their players tangible results from their labor. With the 27-23 win the Leopards have snuck within striking distance of the Division III playoffs. Taking it one game a time Louisville hopes to sink their teeth into the postseason. Louisville will go on the road in Week 8 to face Canton Glen Oak.

Head coach Troy Davis took the time to come on YSN’s Running Point this week to go over the big win. He talks with DJ Yokley and Anthony Hartwig about the work his players have put in, what a playoff birth would mean for the Leopards, and so much more.
