URSULINE IRISH FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 7) WITH DAN REARDON

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Ursuline Irish suffered a tough setback a week ago against a very skilled Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s squad, falling to the Irish at Stambaugh Stadium 35-28. St. V’s did a very good job limiting Irish standout Christian Lynch on the ground, as Lynch only totaled 66 rushing yards on 24 carries, averaging just under three yards-per-carry. The loss was a great experience builder though for the Ursuline, as SVSM is one of the toughest teams in the state in Division II, currently boasting a record of 6-1.

Now looking forward to this week, it is another chance for Ursuline to get redemption against a squad that defeated them a year ago, Villa Angela-St. Joseph. The Vikings defeated Ursuline 46-28 last season, gashing the Irish for 475 yards of total offense. VASJ was able to run the ball very effectively in last year’s battle as they had three different guys rush for over 100 yards on the ground. This game will also be at a very cool site, with the Vikings hosting the Irish at Baldwin Wallace’s collegiate stadium on Friday night.

In this week’s coaches’ corner, Irish Head Coach Dan Reardon discusses the hard-fought loss a week ago to SVSM, looking back at last year’s loss to VASJ, what his guys are doing to prepare this week in practice, and much more!

SOUTH RANGE GIRLS GOLF COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MEAGAN FRANK

CANFIELD OH- There’s a lot that goes in to starting a new program from scratch. South Range has become all too familiar with that this season, as they cut the ribbon on a girls golf program. In years before, girls had to compete on the boys team. Now, they’ll play against their peers and be given their best opportunity to thrive. At the helm of the program is head coach Meagan Frank. She has been talking about the start up process for a couple of years, and this season willed it in to existence.  Despite being in their first year as a program, South Range finished 3rd in the NE8 tournament.  There’s plenty of room for growth, but also plenty of reasons to look on the horizon with a smile.

Coach Frank was gracious enough to take the time to join YSN’s Running Point to talk about what all goes in to building up a new program. She talks about the support she’s gotten from the administration, some of the obstacles they’ve had to overcome, and much more. Check out the first ever Coach’s Corner to come out of South Range Girls Golf only on YSN!

SOUTH RANGE FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 5) WITH DAN YEAGLEY

BOARDMAN, OH- Another week, another big win for South Range to keep their perfect season intact at 6-0.  To put the first blemish on the ledger of NE8 Foe, Girard by a final of 56-12 was an eye-opening occurrence around the area.

The Raiders had their high-powered offense in the spotlight and put on a show for everybody tuned in.

This week, the Range will take Niles’ best punch, as they may return some key starters to take on the league’s top team.

We sat down for our weekly chat with Raider Leader, Dan Yeagley for this week’s South Range Coach’s Corner!

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Coming off one of the most physical games of the season, head coach Seth Antram and the Chaney Cowboys are preparing for the home stretch of their season before the playoffs begin. Last week the Cowboys fell at home to the Ursuline Irish, 30-27, at Rayen Stadium. Even though Chaney lost, they remained ahead of Ursuline in the Region 9 projections on joeeitel.com, as Chaney comes in at #4, whereas, Ursuline is #5 in the most recent release. Up next for the ‘Boys (5-1), will be a tough road test as they will travel up to Painsville to take on the Harvey Red Raiders (4-2) on Friday night.

AUSTINTOWN FITCH FALCONS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 1) WITH TJ PARKER

AUSTINTOWN, OH – The Austintown Fitch Falcons are coming off their first taste of defeat during the 2022 season, falling to the Massillon Washington Tigers 49-28 in front of a packed house at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The Falcons have a lot to take away though from a game where they held their own with not only one of the best teams in Division II but one of the best teams in the state of Ohio regardless of. division. With Massillon’s defense doing a great job neutralizing the normally dominant Fitch rushing attack, Quarterback DeShawn Vaughn Jr. stepped up in a big way for the Falcons, completing 16-of-his-23 pass attempts for 266 yards and three touchdowns, which were caught by Jayden Eley, Dominic Perry, and Jamell James. The Falcons showed as a team that they are threatening offensively in multiple ways, and that is something that will surely go a long way as the season progresses, with the playoffs only being a few weeks away.

Fitch (5-1) faces off with an unfamiliar foe this week, as they will travel to Strongsville to face off with Strongsville (2-4) for the first time in school history. Don’t let the Mustangs’ record deceive you though, as their losses have come against Avon Lake (6-1), Solon (4-2), Medina (5-1), and Cleveland Heights (6-0). The Falcons and Head Coach TJ Parker have another week with their work cut out for them, but also another chance to learn a lot about the team while facing a tough opponent.

In the first-ever edition of our Austintown Fitch Coaches’ Corner from Sam’s Wedge Inn, Coach Parker discussed last week’s matchup with Massillon, what to look forward to in this week’s matchup with Strongsville, and much more!

URSULINE IRISH FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 6) WITH DAN REARDON

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Coming off a victory in one of the most thrilling games in the Mahoning Valley this season over Chaney, the Ursuline Irish need to turn the page quickly mentally as they face another very tough opponent this week that has given them trouble in the past in Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s. St. V’s, also dubbed the “fighting Irish” have had their way historically with Ursuline on the gridiron, as the Irish have not taken down St. V’s in a decade. Both teams come into this battle with only one loss on the season, St. V’s loss coming to Glenville way back in Week 1 25-0, while Ursuline’s only blemish on their record came to the hands of Austintown Fitch back in Week 4, where the Irish fell 42-34.

In this week’s coaches’ corner, Head Coach Dan Reardon discusses last week’s thrilling victory, what to look forward to in this week’s matchup from both sides of the ball, and more!
