BLUE DEVILS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS WITH LEETONIA

LISBON, OH- Marc Moore was the hero with the bat, driving in four runs on three hits to power the Lisbon Blue Devils past Leetonia with a decisive 16-4 victory on Wednesday. Moore kicked things off with a bang, smacking a two-run double in the first inning and adding another RBI double in the fourth.

The Lisbon Blue Devils came out swinging right from the get-go. The first inning was a showcase of their hitting prowess as Moore’s double got them rolling. Logan Sturgeon drew a walk to bring in another run, a wild pitch added two more to the tally, and Ryan Carpenter capped it off with an RBI single.

They didn’t let up, padding their lead in the third with a string of runs. Devin Kelly hit a single, Gage Owens worked a walk, and both Bryce Esarey and Lydon Freeman managed to bring in runs, making it a tough day at the office for Leetonia’s pitching.

The fourth inning saw Lisbon pile on five more runs. Owens and Brady Carpenter each singled home a run, Moore added another with his second double of the day, and Aiden Myers and an error contributed to the scoring spree.

On the mound, Esarey handled his business effectively, surrendering just two hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings while striking out eight and walking four, earning the win. On the other side, Finley struggled, lasting just two and two-thirds innings for Leetonia while giving up 11 runs.

Lisbon’s hitters were also keen-eyed at the plate, drawing a total of 10 walks. Myers, Esarey, Owens, and Sturgeon each took two walks. The team also showed off their speed, stealing four bases, with Kelly swiping two.

Defensively, the Blue Devils were on point, not committing a single error, with Myers involved in eight plays, the most in the game.

For Leetonia, Finley tried to spark some offense, driving in two runs on a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Looking ahead, the Lisbon Blue Devils are set to face Crestview on Thursday, hoping to carry forward their dominant form.
