CARDS WALK IT OFF AGAINST BOARDMAN

CANFIELD, OH- The Canfield Cardinals snatched a thrilling 5-4 walk-off win against Boardman on Wednesday, with the game knotted at four until David Murphy delivered a clutch game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh to seal the deal.

The scoring kicked off in the second when Joey Gabriel lifted a sacrifice fly to get Canfield on the board. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the third, capitalizing on a costly error by Boardman.

However, Boardman fought back in the fourth, evening things up thanks to a walk by Adam Konnerth and a fielder’s choice by Kaden Mayhew that drove in runs.

Canfield regained the lead in the fifth with Murphy coming through with a two-run single, making it 4-2. But not to be outdone, Boardman responded in the sixth, tying the game once again with a wild pitch and a timely triple by Charlie Young.

Zain Jadallah was the winning pitcher for Canfield, holding Boardman at bay with two hitless innings in relief, striking out two. Will Murphy also pitched in relief but gave up four runs over three and one-third innings. On the mound for Boardman, Kirlik absorbed the loss, despite a solid outing where he struck out five over six innings.

Murphy was also a standout at the plate, driving in three runs and collecting two hits. Tanner Stricko joined him with two hits, while Michael Patellis drew a couple of walks, showcasing Canfield’s patient approach at the plate.

For Boardman, Ben Herrmann, Grayson Eicher, and Landon Whippo each put up two hits. Konnerth, Young, and Mayhew contributed with an RBI each.

Looking ahead, Canfield is set to host Heartland Christian tomorrow, riding high off their dramatic victory and hoping to keep the momentum going.
