G-MEN OFFENSE FALLS SHORT AGAINST MOGADORE

GARRETTSVILLE, OH- The Garfield G-Men found themselves outpaced by Mogadore, taking a 12-4 hit on their home turf at James A. Garfield High School on Wednesday.

Mogadore kicked things off in the third inning when Jack Neikirk got Devin Graham to ground into a fielder’s choice that unfortunately brought in a run. But it was the seventh inning that really broke the game wide open for Mogadore. Dylan Benedum smacked a two-run double, Ronnie Skye added a two-run single, and a couple of costly errors by Garfield allowed two more runs to score, totaling a six-run explosion.

Maddox Smith pitched a strong game for Mogadore, holding Garfield to just two runs on two hits over four and one-third innings, and racking up four strikeouts. Neikirk, despite a solid effort, took the loss for Garfield, giving up six runs on 11 hits over nearly five innings.

At the plate, Eric Geddes and Brandyn Bogucki each managed two hits for the G-Men, with Bogucki driving in two of Garfield’s four runs. The team did manage to turn a double play, showing some flashes of defensive skill amidst a tough game.

Mogadore’s bats were hot, racking up 14 hits. Cole Reese stood out, driving in three runs from the seven spot and going 2-for-3 on the day. Corey Lehner and Tanner Buso each added three hits, helping to fuel Mogadore’s offensive surge. Graham and Austin Constantine also contributed with their speed, swiping multiple bases as part of Mogadore’s six stolen bases on the day.

Looking ahead, the G-Men will look to shake off this loss when they face Champion on Thursday, hoping to bounce back and get back on the winning track.
